1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

    Cheers,

    Dear all,

If you hear reports of a swede getting trampled in a Denver goodwill during Halloween half-off, please tell my family I love them.

Not to throw cold water on this (b/c that Southwick is the shit), but something doesn't seem to add up about the date. 1) Robert Kirk, Ltd. was a predecessor store to Cable Car Clothiers. According to the website, RK, Ltd. didn't exist until 1939. It was even in their motto (""San Francisco's British Goods Store Since 1939.") I'll add, though, that CCC appears to have been founded in 1946 or so, so the jacket is almost certainly made in or around this time period, just not sure about 1930. http://www.cablecarclothiers.com/our-company/history.html 2) Southwick was founded in 1929, but doesn't appear to have been called Southwick at that time. Apparently, the initial store was called Grieco Bros., and it was located in Massachusetts. http://www.southwick.com/history Not sure what to make of the date on the jacket versus the company histories. Anybody know how to reconcile the two?

Did we really have to bring these up again? I have since done my research and will not assume they weren't vintage next time. [IMG]

I don't know about that. I've had several instances in the past week of seeing people putting on jackets I would gladly wear and laughing about how "ugly" they were. :uhoh:

I think thrifting Christmas is close to the real Christmas when the tax donations come rolling in.

Yeah, Christmas/New Years is a good time to thrift as well. But right now rocks for the tons of sweaters, jackets and hats... Of course, I'm in a warmish part of the country, so your results may vary.

Hmm - good info to have - thank you. No idea about the dating on the tag - very doubtful it stands for December 30th as that wouldn't make sense without a year...otherwise I'm flummoxed.

Hit one store today - my GPS is whacked and cannot find the other 2 GW's I planned to hit. Had a pile of mainline Armani but it was just too dated to bother with; holey Harris Tweeds and a godawful Pal Zileri suit. Being much pickier than I used to be, only walked out with one thing - my first Chester Barrie ever found in a thrift. 100% cashmere to boot.

Isn't that the best feeling ever? Realizing you would have totally walked out with the bunch of the junk in front of you in the past.[IMG]

Also, found some sweet art for my bathroom... Pretty stoked on this, didn't know I was looking for it till I found it.

For some reason, I thought you were located in the ATL. If you ever want to do a run, PM me! Silverwarebandit and I have actually been trying to make it out to the burbs for the past few weekends, but real life stuff keeps getting in the way. :censored:

Killer bathroom art - with Russell Johnson a/k/a The Professor from Gilligan's Island!

Agreed - less is more when thrifting.

Off to see this guy do some yowling later tonight:
