    Nice find

I've passed on a couple of PRL coats in the past, which I regretted

Need some advice from veteran thrifters:

If I find a pair of pants that's used, too short for me, with room to let down to my length, can I ever eliminate the crease line if I do let them down?

    Thanks fort he advice.

^Are they wool? If so, it shouldn't be an issue at all. Cotton trousers that have been washed will get crease lines that can't be gotten rid of.

90% wool 10% cashmere, so I'm guessing they will be okay. Thanks.

Here's something a little different. A J.C. Penny's wool casual shirt from the 50's. Most stuff of this vintage in any size has such a bizzare fit (short and wide - literally ending at my waistline), but this fits perfect. The sleeves and length are perfect, as is the width of the shirt. Amazing condition, no holes, rips, missing buttons, etc. This is a reminder of how great these stores used to be. The shirt is really well made with very cool details. The chest pockets have two compartments, one under the flap and one behind it. They used cool color-coordinated striped fabric to line the back of the pocket. Anyway, $3 well-spent. [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

That really makes me angry when they put staples in the collar in a visible place. [IMG]

That store does it all the time. They do it to other clothes as well, then the dumbass cashier will rip them out and leave pulls in the clothes.

For those of you in NYC, the Brooklyn Flea has moved for the winter into the giant hall formerly occupied by the Williamsburgh Savings Bank in Ft. Greene: [IMG] There were several good men's clothing vendors, E. Vill shop Rue St. Denis among them. Upstairs on the mezzanine, I found another vendor who sold me these two scarves. The paisley is rayon and the plaid is silk: [IMG] $25 for the pair.

I hadn't gone thrifting in a while, but stopped in a Goodwill yesterday and found a NWT pair of Vineyard Vines corduroys unhemmed and in my waist size. Not a major find, but I'd been considering some corduroys for a while as I could use some more winter pants and the cut of those is pretty nice.

Have you guys noticed more good stuff lately due to last minute tax-related donations in the last few weeks? I haven't seen anything great out on the racks, but a couple of the GW's I hit have MOUNDS of bags of clothing just recently donated. There's no room left in the store room or out on the racks so there are just piles and piles of donations sitting there waiting for room to open up so they can be priced and put out. What I'd give to have a go at them first!

GW and SA seem to have the facilities and planning down so I am not seeing this at those places. The local, one location shops are packed to the brim though. So it's bag sale time.....

Here are the contents of a $4 bag: 2 pairs NWOT Duxbak trousers, 2 pairs AE shoes, NWOT Lyle & Scot jacket, 2 ties, 3 shirts, and a navy blue Oxxford suit. The suit is a small size, maybe even a 38 or 40. Will be FSOT when I get a chance to measure, photo and post.

Shirts were shorter then because men wore their pants higher then.

    Ah - that explains it!

I obviously don't need 3 pairs of the same set, they just all came in a lot. I'm planning to sell one set. PM me if you're interested. Otherwise I'll have a thread in B/S soon.

So I was thrifting the other day

Making my way down the shirt aisle

In front of me there was some dude, about my size

For me, shirt, shirt, shirt, shirt, shirt, shirt, NOTHING

And in front of me, this guy was stacking them up on his arm... T Pink, Tyhritt, Burberry, P Smith, I dont know what else, but the fucker was SCORING and I was 10 feet away from him, digging thru his dregs

So I yelled at him "hey, asshole, leave something for the rest of us, can I get a shirt over here?" - then I popped out of that mini day dream and pussied off to the sweater aisle

Worse than finding nothing is trailing an asshole vaccuming up all the good shit
