1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

Given the stripes, I'd say orphan. Samuelsohn doesn't really do anything fashion-forward. And just a heads up, Harry Rosen is a menswear store here in Canada. So if anything, it's Samuelsohn for Harry Rosen. Should be under the moniker 'J.P. Tilford.'

No need for luck, mr pnut, I have, as i've said, had several styles of shoes stretched (for instep space, and in one case, a bit of length). I doubt my cobbleress is a magician, so if your pair's coming up a bit short, it doesn't hurt to ask.

If they are Peals, they are US sizing. If they were C&J-branded, they might be UK sizing, but those should be a pretty TTS US 8.5.
No offense, but that doesn't look like anything special. Once in a while you'll come across a high-end Tom James made by Oxxford to a similar level of quality, but most Tom James stuff is a dime a dozen.
Very nice! Is it black or navy? If navy, just wear it like a summer blazer.
    Width, yes. Length, no.

Not sure how old these are, but it's a screaming deal for a vintage pair of Florsheim gunboats.

It's easy to get them stretched.

If your cobbler can stretch two sizes, say, a size 8 into a size 10, as you say that your cobbler can, then you must be speaking of the famed Elasti-Leather from the Horweeeeeeeen Company of Chicaaaaago. I don't truck with Elasti-Leather. The leather my shoes are made of has certain qualities that make the material swell and contract with the weather, and with the degree and conditions of use (which explains why I use shoe trees, but that's another story). You see, the inferior materials of which my shoes are made precludes the streeeeetchiiiiing that is possible with Elasti-Leather. And so I do something really silly.

    I buy shoes that fit.

Perhaps, someday, I will have a cobbler as gifted as yours and enough coin to afford Elasti-Leather so that the size of shoes that I buy becomes inconsequential. Until then, I'll stick with the old-fashioned method that has served me well for so very long and pay careful attention to size when I purchase shoes. I guess that's just me.

None taken. No offence, but how the fuck do you tell the difference? This suit is better constructed than anything I've found except the Barbera sport coat I found a few weeks ago. How is this crap? What makes other stuff better? From what I've seen, the stuff people rave about in this forum is poorly constructed crap that sells for $20 on EBay.

You should've seen the three paragraphs I deleted.

Now how about a constructive response?

The Tom James stuff I usually find are outdated and the fabric feels cheap unless they are made with LP or HS. I actually have a custom made TJ made with HS brown birds eye SC that I got from Wes a year ago. That is the shit! Too bad, it doesn't fit me...
