I've been on the lookout for some good tweed for a while now (all I have is a pretty cruddy Stafford) and was kicking myself for not picking up a decent Norm Thompson made in England tweed yesterday... until I came across these...

Those last two are Pure Cashmere, btw.

Also found a Brooks Brothers Makers & Merchants shirt, in my size, with french cuffs. Normally I'd be pretty stoked about that, but today destroyed my normal expectations.

HOLY GOOD GOD!!!!!!!!!!

Lovely tie. I'd throw you an offer, but I already have a similar stripe, just with navy instead of black. Too close to justify adopting that one, though I don't think you'll have too much trouble finding a home.

Nah, just a date....

IMHO, when it comes to Rolex, there is no "just". It's A ROLEX and I don't care how many people turn up their noses at the brand. Hell, I wouldn't mind adding an Air King to my Datejust (I wear it daily) and that's as basic as one can get.

:inlove:

Congrats and good for you as you apparently wear yours all the time as well.

One of my big pet peeves happened today:
I was on the suit rack, a fellow joined me and then decided to try on suits about 3 yards ahead of me. I tried to ignore him but did notice this guy was a douche trying on suit jackets waaaaay too small for him.
Is it not obvious that something will fit or not once you have it in your hands?
He was approx a 6' 3" fat guy, obviously sized upper 40's / lower 50's. Why he would try on small suits (appropriately placed in the small section) is absolutely beyond me .
However, now to one of my biggest pet peeves - the orphan jacket without pants!
The fellow (ascertaining that the two suit jackets did not fit) decided it was appropriate to take the pants.
Yup, the a$$hole took the damn pants to two pinstripe suits (a medium gray and a charcoal PS).
When I eventually get to the two jackets, imagine my anger and shock when the jacket labels were both Brioni. F**k this piece of sh*t, I went looking for him but he must have checked out. That thrift store do not adhere to the policy "if it aint tagged, no buy". They standardize their prices for all pants unless otherwise marked.
Worst thing, these suits were sized 38R - I need these sizes for trades with some nice fellows on here! I am so extremely gutted and dissapointed this happened! To those of you that want to wear pinstripe orphans, PM me and I can go back Monday morning to pick up. The jackets are suit prices though (since this store puts tags on the suit jacket but not the pants but it is a price for a complete unit), which works out to $32.99 each at this thrift. ...

Yeah but you have a GREAT story now. You'll be telling it for years!

Everything on this page is real.
Except the Hawaiian Punch shirt. That **** just got real.

I have a Viagra tie that you might be interested in!

Suit - HF bespoke navy herringbone (eBay)
Shirt - CT tailored fit FC (one of those constant sales they have)
Links - MOP (didn't really come out in the pic - thrifted by me)
Tie - PRL (eBay - $4 shipped!)
Shoes - AE Mora dub monks (thrifted by me)

That's good stuff and especially the tie. Wes? Are you paying attention?

Bought some stuff for myself.

Thrift fit + finds:

Tell me about Roy jeans? Seems like there's even more to know in denim than in MC.
Yes, those are sweet. I'm still waiting for my Boadstreets from AE. When I went to lace them up for the first time a few weeks ago, found that a couple metal eyelets were missing on the inside, so I sent them back for exchange. Perhaps I am picky, but when I pay full price, I expect zero flaws.

You absolutely should. If I ever pay full price for anything again I would.

Is this jacket really "real" Burberry Prorsum? I have the same jacket and although really really nice thought it was just Burberry, not Prorsum? Thanks http://www.ebay.com/itm/180935384390
I'm no expert, but doesn't the label normally say "Prorsum" or "Prorsum Collection" in addition to the "Prorsum" on the knight's flag?

No problem.

In general Burberry prorsum made in Italy or romania sometimes some other countries

sometimes black on black with prorsum, or label like that
generally slimmer fitting

everything else from burberry is most likely made in China or Turkey.

But i recognized that coat from the season, i wanted it awhile back

Well I said I'd show the ties I bought last weekend (total spewnd £34) so here's the first lot:

L to R: Louis Vuitton (or not); Nina Ricci; Armani Cravatte; Principe; Massimo Dutti

700

Jos. A Bank; Robert Talbott BoC; Gianfranco Ruffini; Talbott Regimental "Royal Navy"; Pierre Cardin "Modern"

700

RL Polo (German); RL Polo; RL Polo University; RL Polo; RL PL; RL PL (front)

700

The one I'm concerned about is the Vuitton. There are no LVs woven into the fabric anywhere but here's a couple of pics of the back and keeper/main label. Any help in authenticating would be greatly appreciated.

(Spends a day catching up on over 200 posts, falls behind again and says "F*** it" and skips last 3 pages -- except for that MASSIVE and AWESOME Oxxford haul!) OK, so I'm finding my time pulled in many different directions, and that will only get worse in the fall when I start teaching again. This thread is way too difficult to keep up with. Here's what I referred to earlier as decent finds. The first thing to say is: Yes, I know better than to pick up orphans. But sometimes you just can't leave a soldier behind. First is a killer custom double breast suit, dark charcoal with chalk stripe, double vent, ticket pocket. Full canvas, great hand. Very slimming (read: just a liiiiiiitle too tight). Orphan, which is a shame, but I have reason to believe there once were trousers. So I plan to hit the store several times in the next couple of weeks to see if they turn up. If not.... well, charcoal chalk stripe is awfully hard to do as a separate. But I guess I'll figure something out. Slim 42R.
Second: I think this is "good" Missoni, right? Third: This is the guy I just couldn't put back. Single breast, double vent, ticket pocket, surgeon cuffs, full canvas, clearly hand made. Orphan. :brick: With a couple of small moth holes at the right sleeve. :brick: :brick: ~40ish short Tore the store apart looking for the trousers. No dice. Will keep on the hunt.
Since this is way too small for me, what, you ask, will I do with it? Dunno. But I liked the idea, as another poster here once said, of being able to look into the distance, eyes like chips of granite, and say "Yeah. I bought a Henry Poole." (Does it count as Savile Row if they were over on Cork street by then?) Not pictured: Six -- count 'em: SIX -- pairs of Italian flat front trousers. Two very recent Zegna in very nice colors, and four

. All very nice colors (mostly grays and beiges), and all within striking distance of my size, so, for the moment anyway, not available (though 38s and 40s: if you really want these, feel free to get at me; we can work something out). A handful of Th. Pink shirts, plus a few other Ebay bound items to pay for these indiscretions (read: Hugo Boss).
