I've done ok with To Boot New York. They won't score you tons of scrill or anything, but if you let them sit on eBay for two weeks or so, I find that you will usually be able to get $50 or so. I've only ever seen TBNY with the Adam Derrick labels/

Noted, I can do ~50. I looked again and the resale didn't seem as bad as I recalled.

You know I have had some pretty good luck stretching shoes at home. All it takes is some rubbing alcohol, some conditioner, and about ten minutes. Give it a search.

Thanks for the added information! Now I just need to decide if I should list it now on ebay.de or wait and list it on ebay.com.

I know it's not really the right place to put a want, but this probably gets more traffic...

anyone have a set of collar stays I can steal before I break down and buy a set from dillards for $20?

In the same week, I have now had two weird shipping problems. I sold and sent a Brioni shirt (pretty sure NWOT) to a guy in Innsbruck and it never showed up. I believe him because after I googled his name, I'm fairly sure he's a professor at a university and he has perfect feedback. What's weird and angering is that it was sent uninsured (I know, I know) through the Austrian Post. The Post here is far from perfect, but it is usually pretty speedy and accurate. They claim that 95% of all letters mailed within Austria arrive the next day. No insurance = I'm out a shirt and the cash. Clearly my fault.

In April, I sold a few things on ebay.com (wouldn't sell on ebay.de). I basically subsidized the shipping prices because no one would have touched them otherwise. Sold things, got paid, no problem. However, one of them just got returned to me. In July. From America. I looked at the tracking number and they attempted to deliver it a number of times for 3 weeks. I have to go pick it up and probably pay the return shipping. I haven't heard from the buyer or anything. Isn't that a bit weird? You buy something, pay for it, never receive it and forget about it? My wife suggested that maybe they died.

Anyway, both are hopefully flukes and lessons learned.

That is true, but there are a number of countries that I won't ship to and I prefer to ship to Austria or Germany when I list things. In the past, people have bid on things not realizing the shipping price to the US or the time it takes to receive. When I list it locally and exclude a lot of countries, I'm usually more successful at the expense of losing a couple of bidders.

The man could have been (or be) on vacation. Or he could have ordered many items over eBay and simply forgot about that one.

Definitely a possibility that I hadn't really considered. I will have to find out which item it was and then try to contact him. I really don't want to split the shipping costs with him again and I'll have to tack on the costs of picking it up (return shipping). I doubt he'll be too happy about paying an extra €30 for an item he already won and paid.

I have had this happen a few times. If the address you shipped to is the correct address from ebay or paypal, it is the buyers fault. I just give them two options. Pay to have the item reshipped, including any added expense from the returned package....or a refund minus the expense for the returned package. So far they have all chosen to have the item reshipped.

I once had a man buy a vintage leather medicine ball from me for around $200. He sent me a personal check without asking. The check was good and I sent the package, and the buyer left good feedback. Strangly, 5 months later, the package returned, with all sorts of attempted delivery notices on it. I tried to contact the buyer a few times with no luck. Then I tried to send him a refund, but the money was never claimed and the refund timed out, and the money was credited back to my account. I sold the medicine ball a second time for $180. The original buyer was an interior decorator who specialized in man caves with vintage sports memorabilia. He was making 15-20 purchases a day so it is understandable that he may have forgotten about the package, but it is weird that the packge wasn't picked up with the rest.

Weird story! I suppose it's easy to imagine when you're doing so much volume. He must have been going through checks like crazy if he was buying so much! I guess part of it is also that I really look forward to buying stuff and if it never arrives I'm pretty aware of it. I personally would love to ship via DHL, UPS or FedEx, but the prices are really prohibitive. Thanks a lot for the advice!
