one of my fave shirts is a chambray by Gant Rugger, good stuff
Some dude called BS on many of the finds, saying that they had to have been bought at consignment for $100+, not at thrift prices. Several people countered with anecdotes. It really wasn't much of a dust up as far as board dust ups go.
DM7 quit a few hundred posts back.
Gant was garbage through the 90s and early 00s. Hugger is a new label and desirable.
Ok, check on Hermes and it's confirmed uber fake. What about the ysl and lanvin? Are those the good stuff?
The only "good" YSL that I know of is Rive Gauche, which that is not. And I *think* that's the licensed Lanvin, so not the good stuff, but I may be wrong about that...someone feel free to correct me.
Rugger, boys. Not Rigger or Hugger. A model of shirt by the name of Hugger exists, though I don't know if its still marketed as such. Also keep an eye out for Gant by Michael Bastian. And for that matter, Michael Bastian mainline, which is almost universally made under contract by Cucinelli.
Welcome back by the way, Frenchy.
I think thats the good Lanvin. Original Logo.
I think this is the licensed
I've ran into that problem too. I learned after I post all the pics and content, I high light the stuff I want to hide and then click on the "spoiler box". It usually does the trick.
Ah, many thanks for the correction. On the plus side, a tie I have (and like) that I thought was crap Lanvin is apparently the good stuff.
Hugger was a model of shirt that Gant made back in the 60's-70's.
Rugger is their younger, youthful line. Gant Collection is the nice, tailored stuff. Probably a notch or three up from Banana Republic. I've seen a few Gant x Michael Bastian shirts at my local discount store. Nice stuff! Never seen mainline MB in the wild before.
Maybe folks should concentrate on learning to tell high-quality clothing from low-quality clothing, and then the brand questions will answer themselves.
Some of the new model Gant Rugger shirts have a "Hugger" fit, if that makes any sense. Basically, the label will say both "Gant Rugger" and "Hugger."
Is that label ever seen on ties though? I have some that im pretty sure are liscensed, but I don't know how that label would fit on the tie. And to clarify, cosbysweater, there is no such thing as Gant rigger or hugger? I thought i'd seen both posted. Regardless, I got Rugger today, its like XXLT though, so if you are a giant man and want it let me know.
