I don't. I'm on a MBP.
I was having a pretty shitty day yesterday, sitting in a boardroom from 8-4:30, wearing a jacket and tie when it was 104 degrees. Then I try to get on the subway, and the goddamn world is standing there waiting on the platform. I decided to head into the nearby GW to find a book to read while rush hour passed. As I'm walking by one of the shoe racks, I just see the letters v, a, and n on an insole. I turn around and find one pair. Then I think, well, what are the odds that there's another pair of decent shoes in the place? In over a year, I've found one wearable pair there. I pick up a shirt and a copy of Taleb's "Black Swan," and walk to the register. As I'm waiting behind what I THINK was a man in a woman's sundress buying a straw hat, I decide to walk over to check out the rest of the shoes. Pairs 2 and 3 were sitting right beside each other.
Alden shells for BB, 11.5D, combination heels, x3 (black x2, cordovan x1). Available at a thread discount if someone wants to make a fair offer, but maybe I should clean them first.
Fantastic! Nothing like 3 pairs of Shells to turn your day around.
.... or you could go on ebay and make a killing. The last BB Alden shells I listed when for a BIN of $250 in a matter of hours; they were wingtips, though, but there's no reason you can't make a bunch of money if nobody takes you up on your very kind thrift-thread offer.
I havent done this in a little while... Yesterday's haul:
EU 50 Corneliani pants. Man the cotton is soft on these; I really wish they were my size
Yohji Yamamoto Pour Homme shirt size L
funky paisley trafalgar braces
all 3 are available, if theres any interest
Long time lurker on SF but have only recently come over here to where the men are and the adrenaline flows.
Took my son 2 weeks ago to the nearby GW to get some grad clothes (grade 6 grad, so why spend serious money?). I took a few minutes to browse the racks and had some luck.
BTW, I'm in a northern city here. Not at all cosmopolitan but a lot of money from oil so people travel and consume conspicuously. Hopefully that continues to lead to some good stuff in the shops but I'm sure I'll never be hauling in the the Italian suits.
First up, a standard issue genuine HT by St. Michaels for Mark & Spencers. Some nice colours going on there that the camera doesn't do justice to.
Spoiler: Warning: Spoiler!
And a few minutes later, rifling through the ties:
Looking forward to contributing in a small way to this community and hopefully learning something from some masters of the art.
The black ones look just like the ones I'm wearing today
ummm .... you want to send me that record of Kind of Blue, right?
^^^ You found more shell cordovan shoes in one afternoon than I've found all year, lol.
Picked up a weird unstructured casual sport coat with this Canali label. Never seen this Canali label before, is it real? The jacket is 3 button, with patch pockets, Polyester shell. Cotton blend 1/2 lining.
Maybe you want the package I'm putting together for Belafonte's Calypso record?
Does Canali really stitch that crappyily? I think I could stitch better then that considering I got a A+ in home eco. in 6th grade.
I was thinking the same thing.
I've had such a hard time finding quality jazz records at thrifts -- maybe I should go back to looking at record stores.
If you ever come across this, I will send you a lot of money.
