I might have made a mistake in buying this thing. If it's a flop though, I'm not out much. It's a nice piece but needs work. One button is loose (button and backing button are intact) and the seam sealer is showing through, as I've seen a lot with outdoor/backpacking garments of this age as well. Not sure if there's a fix or to call it "patina".

Yeah, I don't get it. Ties for some reason are not now. Last year I couldn't get over $20 for a recent Zegna or Talbott BOC. Just sold a BOC for $60+ and recent Zegnas for $30-$50. Crazy!

I disagree on the jacket... The shoulders are too big and it's causing the wrinkling under the arms.

I'm seeing the opposite. Maybe it's just that I started taking much better pictures, but suits / SC's are selling better for me. That nailhead Canali I put up last week sold at the BIN for $125 which I wasn't expecting. The Versace tie I found still hasn't sold and I have a bunch of Zegna's up that haven't sold for a while now.

Exams are impending, so no thrifting for me. Already planning a thrift-trip to London for afterwards though, which should be fun.

Heads up for the small guys- 5 T&A shirts in a slim 14.5 have just gone up on ebay, £15 each. Arms a tad too short for me: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/320914595...AX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649#ht_742wt_1270

Also, something I've been pondering for the past couple of days-

Eazye- how did you get that desk home on a bike?

totally missed the wrinkling, only looked above and underneath where the wrinkling was [IMG] (if you put one finger sideways over the wrinkly part you'll probably agree that it's looks good-fitting [IMG])

You know how people say that what you imagine is always worse than reality? Well, in this case it's the opposite.

I thought I'd make this available here before it goes to the "winter closet." It will make its way to eBay.de in the fall. It's a vintage Togs Unlimited down coat by Chevignon. It's definitely older and not one of the remakes. It's in great condition with leather around shoulders/back. The sleeves zip off to make it into a vest. Size M.

yeah this isn't even a case of "you, good sir, have gone beyond the unspoken rules of tailored clothing." this is just straight up tacky. dark colored dress shirt and sneakers with suit just scream "I DON'T KNOW WTF I'M DOING." the fact that this outfit had a high-dollar original MSRP doesn't save it from being 100% corny.

Eh, personally I kinda dig the shirt/tie combo, but that's just me (more of a similar blue in the tie, or a more purple shirt woulda helped). Did the best with what he had on hand given the last minute oh shit circumstances. That suit is a trip to the tailor away from looking really good, but there was probably no way DM could get a fast turnaround on narrowing the legs / trying to bring in the under arm area of the jacket.

Would have liked to have seen darker sneakers when going this route. Sure it has some blue that matches, but at the cost of the lighter surrounds, it just doesn't properly jive in my eyes. I thought about doing it when I went to prom, but never found shoes that would work so I went with the crappy rental shoes that came with my tux. Ugh remember that whole rental racket?

Most important of all, however, was that he enjoyed himself.

^ agreed, the suit itself was the best part, even more impressive given the short timeline. everything else just ruined it though, and kind of prevented any sort of appreciation of the suit. it's like a nice BMW 5 series that has been outfitted with garish rims, a giant spoiler, and huge decals. unless you're an expert AND have mastered the basics AND have the appropriate amount of swag in reserve (that LabelKing guy, Lapo Elkann, Luca Rubinacci) go tasteful or go home.

I also sorta like the shirt tie combo. I like the shoes too, but just not with the suit. But then again im partial to funky shoes. Bottom line you tried something a bit different, that takes balls, props. (Says the man in silk slacks and ostrich boots).

So, as it seems, old habits are hard to break. Went and did my old GW circuit today for shits n giggles. There was koppage.
More later, but can anyone help with this logo? This (3) piece has no labels, is seemingly bespoke, and is lined all with this:

Went back to my college town for a wedding. Snagged a bridesmaid for both nights. :slayer: I was a groomsman and we wore paisley ties from tiebar.com. If you're looking for cheap ties, definitely head there. I was a really impressed with them. Hit up the outlets nearby, but didn't purchase anything. Decided to hit a thrift and found my best tie haul to date, including picking up a brand I never, ever thought I would find. Imagine if I had read this in college :brick:. Left a Southwick for Paul Stuart suit my size and shirts: Hickey Freeman linen, Viyella, Huntsman, and Carroll & Co.

Sorry but all ties below are unavailable.

Yessir, its good to go. This tie came out in 1994, just after the release of the Rosenthal/Versace home collection pattern called "Medusa Red". The 10" vase was Gianni's favorite, and made this and a silk shirt out of it. Heres a pic of the vase : [IMG]
PM if you want to let it go at cost-ish, Id be willing to take a gamble.
