HF seems to do really well for a lot of the posters on this thread. I know that HF, Norman Hilton, Southwick, etc. all have good reputations, but I almost never pick them up. Of the three I mentioned, I have only ever picked up one vintage 1960s Norman Hilton cashmere sport coat and it moved for $149 + shipping. Also, I pass on 90% of BB suits and all non-vented anything. After reading about Grendel's good experience with that Armani 50 posts back, I might have to reconsider my position on the latter. Well played, sir! [IMG]

I bought two NWOT Hickey Freeman suits from a thrift for 49.99 each, and they were the LTD. line for Dilliards. I kept one for myself and sold the other for $150, so it was a great deal for me. Oh and the one I sold was a horribly ugly unvented black with bronzish pinstripes. Sometimes its easily worth it to spend that kind of money at a thrift.

If they're NWT I'll pay to proxy them.

Sorry for the double post, I forgot to ask for some advice. Got a pair of shoes on ebay with this damage to the heel. Is it major/fixable/worth complaining about?

It's major, worth complaining about, but possibly fixable. A cobbler might be able to do something for you, but I think they'll be filling it in with something. It might look okay shined up but it will hurt their value and how well they hold up over time.

Are you guys who pass on BB and HF waiting for the Brioni / Isaia / Kiton fairy to drop stuff on your head? I've been thrifting for over 6 months pretty regularly and never found anything Kiton or Isaia and only a tie from Brioni. Of course, if you're in LA apparently $5K suits are falling off the racks.
