Nataku, pardon my ignorance, but my Kelty bag is made of Cordura? The various Cordura messenger bags I've had over the years are a much stiffer weave. I realize there are various grades of Cordura, but I figured it wasn't used in these 70s bags, rather Nylon was the chosen fabric. Good to know that my bags are more water resistant than I originally knew! I have an external frame Gerry that hasn't gotten much use yet, but I hope to do some summer day trips in the mountains this year, maybe even a 14'er at my GF's request, heh.

Edit: That Banana Equip. site is terrible. If they hired a decent photographer and web developer, they could get a spotlight on any number of tumblrs. Oh well, I'm sure the product is well made and worth the dough.

It could very well be made from nylon. I've seen quite a few Kelty bags from the early-mid 70's made from plain nylon. Cordura has a dry, stiff sort of rough feeling to it. It repels water very well. Cordura was a big thing is the late 70's. Wilderness Experience, Class 5, YakPak, Lowe-Alpine, etc all made their bags with it.

Cordura will look like this up close:

The plain-jane nylon isn't as stiff, is pretty lightweight and doesn't have the rougher texture as cordura. It's kind of hard to explain. Cordura has changed a bit since it first came out. I've seen more recent Cordura bags at the thrift stores and it feels a lot different than my old stuff.

Yeah, that site is awful. I think they tried to revive the brand but ran out of funding, hence the cheap site and no check-out/purchase section. Hope they get it going soon!

You're both gentlemen and scholars. I love these little side tangents on vintage shit...they make me realize there's so much stuff I know absolutely nothing about. Fascinating, and kudos gents, thanks for the info.

LOL, rather off topic but this cracked me up. Just got this email from an Ebay buyer that I did not leave positive feedback fast enough for, previous email was in all caps and rather threatening. You might want to block this guy, "vaultbox" on Ebay.

    "Dear leftblankinc,

Really, Connor? <- Note, he uses my first name since he pulled my personal info
Then why would you go out of your way with a nasty
feedback when you've received an outstanding one. <- Left him a positive feedback telling him not to get angry over feedback
    You could've replied in
a matter of course about 30 days wait..
I do take the matters of the
feedback very seriously, hence you were kindly asked 3 times were is
it. <- Sent me a couple other demanding emails
Yet you deside to advise me on how to live through the feedback? Fancy
yourself, do you? <- I think he might be crazy
From your stinking hole full of second rugs that you
hiding? <- What does this mean??
You are one pathetic peddler with 3 past identities and a fake
    phone #. <- WTF???
Save your advise for your boyfriend. <- LOL?!
    Your ignorance preceds
    you.

    -vaultbox"

I think he tried to make a crack about my sexuality, but he bought a 2XL flamboyant Robert Graham shirt, so  Where do these people come from... But seriously. Where.

does anyone know much about that brand, MASTAI FERRETTI? is me finding it in a thrift a once in a lifetime deal, in which case i need to find other ways to get my fix?

Pretty rare shirt to find in a thrift. Small Italian designer, very small quantity makes it to North America. Enjoying the treasure is the best part. . .

I think they make the shirts for Lanvin.

Something that I have thought about for a while is sharing my eBay blocked bidder list here. Any one interested in sharing their list?

The Hermes tie is a fake. Genuine Hermes ties' labels never contain the name Hermes on it nor the word Paris. (Sorry.)

Not true, though someone confidently makes this pronouncement once a week or so. Do your homework; it's a "heavy silk" tie and is real.
