at first i thought you were opening with a joke.
Picked up a few things in my first trip in over 2 weeks
Anyone know how to better date this Paul Stuart Suit?? (Has the 3 names, so is more recent I think??)
I don't know about dating, but that looks like a Samuelsohn tag to me. <3 Sammy stuff, great solid baseline for a closet.
No expert, but my super recent one from Nataku's crazy PS haul awhile back looks a bit different...more rectangular and stitched on with light fabric, but otherwise has the same 3 names. No materials tag in my to compare with. Nataku might be the man to ask on that.
EDIT: And yes, agreed on Samuelsohn.
Not sure if this is much indication, but if you look at the font style and design of the two labels, it apears to be the same (or at least very similar). This is from little older Samuelsohn suit.
Hit the local store for lunch, found a very nice Orvis SC in a plaidy tweed - 3/2 sack style size 46R, will post a pic when I get home
Thanks for the info on the Paul Stuart. Also picked up this not recent but not old Hickey Freeman Tux (came with Cumberbund and suspenders also), a Ricci Tie and my first Truzzi shirt with HUGE buttons
Oh how I missed thrifting!
Not much, but I picked up a nice Glen plaid jacket with a subtle red overcheck, that fits quite well. From a local tailor of Italian cloth, fully canvassed. Wore it immediately.
Anyone know about I. Magnin? Found a light grey glen plaid suit in 40r that I believe is fully canvassed, but passed because I couldn't find any info. Thinking about going back and picking it up for myself...
I. Magnin was a high-end store competing with NM and Saks, I think mostly (only?) on the West Coast. I've only ever seen a tiny number of items from them here in Ohio, so that says something about the geographic distribution.
I don't know if they had high-end makers identifiable by interior labels or not, but it might be worth checking out. If you like it, it's probably pretty good stuff.
Left a damn nice khaki RLPL jacket today with holes all over. Orphaned, dual vent, ticket pocket. What a shame.
Day of novelty:
Dak's tie (can't remember if these are bragworthy), Emilie Ferrubi-raba-issie(? neat French brand) size 44US overcoatish thing with awesome camo lining...
Not typcially bragworthy , but interesting nonetheless:
Oxford University Jacket (Made in the UK). Actually fits pretty well...
Plus mini-detailed thrift fit pic:
All thrifted other than socks and knickers:
Shoes: Allen Edmonds Brown Suede (Bradley?)
Pants: RLPL khakis
Shirt: Barneys green gingham
Tie: PRL made in italy purple knit
Sweater: BB brown lambswool
Belt: PRL brown leather
I'm probably gonna be vacationing / visiting friends in Chicago this summer... Feel free to pass along any hints here too, or if anyone wants to meet up let me know
Interesting - where are the socks from? Don't ask, but I've been looking for some interesting stuff that's not argyle.
Separate names with a comma.
