    Wow. That was quick. Thanks.
Strangely enough, I pulled two belts to possibly buy, and the other was a Martin Dingman. I only remember cause I had to look the name up.

even as a bystander, it's getting kind of disgusting. do you think he might be just going out and buying all this stuff at retail just in order to earn the highly coveted SF "thrift shop bragging thread" cred?;)

    ORLY? Wanna try me?

Most certainly. Be careful on eBay listing it though - I once had a delivery of 20 NWT clearly authentic Chanel ties, and Chanel made eBay yank em for some weird reason.

He passed away late last year,

whoa kitonbrioni died? i thought people were just joking about that. now i feel bad for never connecting that. also spoo from what i understand certain brands have deals with ebay where ebay will shut down X number of auctions for them, fake or otherwise, simply because it's stuff they don't want being sold on ebay. this could not be true though.

I've actually interviewed eBay legal for multiple stories I've published. I imagine that wouldn't be possible in a legal sense (i.e. giving some intellectual property/copyright/trademark holders favor and not others). What is more likely is that someone within that brand (i.e. Chanel) "proved" to ebay that whatever lot was a fake. Doesn't matter if it's true or not to ebay, just that the burdenof proof is on the IP owner (i.e. the auction lister could go after the IP owner for unfairly calling something a fake...but who among us has the legal firepower to do that?)

This is how eBay gets away with sellers selling fakes without having legal obligation to shut down the fakers. "We are the platform, not the police," i.e. I can manufacture tools with which burglars pick locks but as long as I'm not doing the burgling...I am not liable. That's the legal theory, I believe.

I'm no lawyer (I know there are many on this thread) but that's how it's been explained to me (not officially for print by eBay, but by people who know what they are talking about).

A bigger question -- who is going to nail post #30,000 on this thread? I'm guessing Wes or Dig.

Hey thanks for the vote. If I notice it is post #30,000 I will probably yield to another crazy ass DM7 post rather than squander in with my ultra ordinary finds.
