^^^ I've seen that pic online before. They're going to find a dead cat under all of that when his lease runs out and he has to move. Just looking at it again makes me want to thin out my own tie collection.

The G&G's are Rothschild's in black calf. Look like they've been worn less than 5 times. Unfortunately, no box and no trees, but I'm not complaining. The store where I bought them does some research on their stuff so these weren't the $10 thrift style, but well, well, well below normal retail price. Sorry Spoo, these are 8Es.

If they fit you, why would you ever let them out of your possession?

So 8E is around a 9 US, right? Maybe even 9.5 depending on the last.

I haven't yet decided to keep them or not, but quite honestly, these are just way more shoe than I would ever need. $1200 shoes deserve to be paired with $3000+ suits. And I have none of the latter in my closet so I'm sure there is someone else that could pull these off without looking like the poser I would.

Those G&G's look great! What a find! [IMG]

They did remind me of one of the down sides to thrifting shoes. While it's possible to end up with a great shoe collection, every pair can either be a half size too big or too small, a little wide or a little tight, or just a little aesthetically different from what you would have bought for yourself if you were paying full-fare.

(95% of the time, I can live with that.)

Then realized they were not American size 8 and felt like:

Thrift fit today.

Jacket: Croydon (no-name brand, but I love how it looks. Brown herringbone with stretched leather buttons, very nice and warm).
Suit: Hickey Freeman
Shirt: Harvey & Hudson (Decent shirtmakers. A bit underrated, IMO)
Tie: :Hermes
Shoes: Florsheim Imperial

I know SF hates such a low button stance/low gorge, but I'm on the fence about it. I also might want a bit more waist suppression, but those two things aside, I think this is one of my better fitting suits. I really like that the pant legs and thighs are more narrow/slimmer fitting, though it's hard to see that from this view. Everything was thrifted by me, except the tie was traded to me by another thrifter for an item that I also thrifted. Now that I'm looking at it, the topcoat sleeves may need to come out a bit more as well.

Entirely coincidentally, just published a style profile on Put This On of the owner of that amazing rack.

His name's Sean Crowley, and he's a designer for A Very Famous Brand.

His house is indeed a little like a hoarders episode. An awesome, awesome, awesome hoarders episode. That I want to live in.

He's on eBay, too - his handle is Mr.Wooster.

Keep thrifitng and trading here and you will have $3,000 suits soon enough, but no $1200 shoes to go along with them. As with all things in life IMO, set a goal, be it in work (dress the level of the position you aspire to, not the one you have), a company (hire a manger for where you want your company to be, not where it is), clothing (have grandiose shoes for the suits you want, not what you currently have).

Completely agree. When I first started on SF four years ago my best suits was a Hugo Boss. Now my "low end" suits are HSM. I.was able to do this with the knowledge I gained here both thrifting and to realize what is too good to pass up retail.

Unless they don't fit you keep them.

I'm 10/10.5 US. Maybe if I trim my toenails a little closer?
