It's actually alpine grain - which I only know because I read it on the Alden site...... [IMG]

I am sure my opinion is in the minority here, but those are awesome. If they weren't 4 sizes too large I would be all over them.

I had only a few minutes between errands and store closing, so my browsing and buying was frantic to say the least. I ended up with a few items, some of which are brag worthy, some of which are staples just filling gaps, and some of which were specifically bought with thread members in mind, who have already been PMed (if they don't work out, I will post here). But here are a few of my more interesting/significant/unclaimed finds from the last couple of days: Harris Tweed in a gray herringbone with pastel overtones, Made in USA, size 40R. Available.
    [IMG][IMG][IMG]
Alden New England (is that the model? See pic). I hit this store REALLY fast, and didn't realize until after that the sole is paper thin; these desperately need resoling. But uppers are in great shape (just need some elbow grease). They put the price RIGHT on top of the Alden logo using SHARPIE! :fu: Too small (8.5 C/E), so available.
    [IMG][IMG][IMG]
Barbera paisley tie, which I'd seen a couple of weeks ago and was WAY overpriced, but it was half price day and SOMEHOW it had escaped detection. :D Not my style, so available.
    [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]
An Eton (blue check) and a Zegna (ivory, massive real MOP buttons) for the big-neck-short-arm guys: 17.5+ neck, 22" shoulder to cuff. Anyone? Anyone?
    [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]
I know Ted Baker gets no love, but I'm partial to his ties. Oh, and a Banana Republic/Made in Italy (suspect that's a question of definition) that I picked up because it will look good under a sweater and was dirt cheap.
    [IMG][IMG]
What I left: 1. A Canali houndstooth in beige with green/blue, 56L (46L US). Why? I DON'T KNOW! I was under the gun and I just got spooked that I wouldn't find it a good home. That store was on half price for today only. If someone wants me to proxy, PM me and I can give you a sense of price. 2. A pair of Tod's shoes. Do I recall reading at some point they're decent? They didn't seem all that special, but shoes ain't my thang. 3. A super old Harris Tweed rust herringbone overcoat for some ancient English retailer I didn't recognize. Possibly made in England; hard to tell. 40ish? GW wanted an uncomfortable sum for it. Again, pm me for proxy details.

Had a pretty good day today by my standards, but probably not this thread's.

    FOR ME:

After Six Midnight Blue Tux - The only pants I found (I scoured the store) don't quite seem right. The shade of blue is slightly off, as is the satin. Would regular black tuxedo pants work with this jacket if I can't make the one's I found work? Once I get that settled, could someone please invite me to a black tie affair? [IMG]

    FOR ME . . . FOR NOW . . .

Aberdeen (never heard of them) tweed 3 pieces (I'm guessing, I couldn't find the pants) suit - Fits a little snug [IMG]

    [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]
HF Navy Pinstripe 3 piece - Needs dry cleaning & taken in.

    AVAILABLE:

RLPL (my 1st!), but it's too small in the neck - 15.5

Harris Tweed for Saks. Fits like a 38, I'd guess. This thing's wild!

    [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]
Salvatore Ferragamo - I just can't get into either of these patterns.

Same dude will fit the Zegna and Eton shirts I posted above. PM me too. Adding two Southwick finds that have now been passed on: Handwork evident. SC appears flawless. One minor seam separation on right trouser pocket of suit, but all it needs is a couple of stitches and it;ll be right as rain. Otherwise, condition is VG to excellent. Sportcoat measurements (half lined, heavy duty twill weave. buttons feel real): Pit: 20.5 Shoulders: 17 Length: 30 Arm: 23.5 Suit measurements -- No size tag, so it may be MTM or bespoke. Fits me, and I'm a 42R -- actually, the jacket "waist" is blown way out; I think this guy had a bigger gut than me. Trousers are unlined, jacked is half lined. It feels like spring/summer weight; buttons feel real: Pit: 22 Shoulders: 18.5 Length: 31 Arm: 24.75 Waist: 38 (can be taken in) Inseam: 29.75 (cuff; at least 2 to let if cuff removed)

Dang, why can't those be 16.5 x 34! Ugh! Beautiful shirts and Talbott Estate is top-tier stuff. Hope someone can benefit from those beauties.
