Did he mention "cost" was $90 for the shirt and $600 for the suit...I kid I kid [IMG]

Very nice gesture of you. Just make sure these don't go to someones uncle's son's brother's g/f's father....aka ebay.

+1 Just do what you did there Brian... but maybe on a table so it's easier to get to.

What is selvedge in ties? I'd love to see a pic.

Nothing works better, but a white plastic bag (like a grocery bag without printing on it) works almost as well and doesn't rip up as much

Not the right term I am sure. :embar: That is just how I have been referring to the most recent Zegna ties with this kind of tipping. Reminds me of the edge of the fabric on the bolt.....

I saw a tutorial for this a while back, but I'm convinced now. Time to gut a box or two.

Btw, just wanted to give a public thank you to ATLJon. We traded some grey trousers recently, but he really came over the top w/ some Made in England Austin Reeds made from Loro Piana fabric. Super soft, and I can't wait to try them out. Thanks, dude!

My guess is he means "self-tipped" (since selvedge is just "self-edge")...though this is entirely a guess and assumes that others follow my line of logic (not a very safe assumption, haha).

Not to nitpick man, but if you're planning on selling on eBay, pay attention to the shoe strings. I figure if you're going to put in the time to make a light box, might as well put in the extra 10 seconds to finish the look off. Just some constructive criticism.

    I love this!

Crazy haul! Much better than my haul today (an REI zip up).

Well, I ventured out in the aftermath of a pretty bad winter storm. Roads were awful. I was hoping it would be a replay of the last winter storm where nobody was in the store. Wrong. Everyone and their brother was there today. Doh! Found the above mentioned REI zip up and that's about it. Oh wait, I found 5 original Bill Haley and the Comets LPs. Original issues on Decca. The covers are trashed but the vinyl is VG+. They're playing copies anyway.

Hi, thanks for the suggestion. As noted "have not touched the shells yet, but they should clean up really really nice." I just took 3 quick pictures of the "before" exactly as I got them from the store. And I needed to test out the light box. Already brushed for a while, now have some cream on them, then more brushing, then laces back in then real pictures. I try to take 15-20 pictures of shoes when they go onto ebay and into my Shoe Megathread!! [IMG]

Another alternative to a lightbox is a big piece of seamless white paper. Just large format printer paper. If you have a room with lots of natural light, the photos can turn out surprisingly well. All my ebay photos this week were taken that way.

Where is the tutorial for this thing if I need it in future? Funny that I passed the same Canali tie in Pinkish Gold color today. But it was 3 bucks.

Well done! I think the Strobist folks would approve.
