+1... ya, looks that way.
Occasionally I can convince my wife to stop at the thrift store on the way home from church in Sundays. Today was one of those days.... Lucky for me.
A few shirts, Ike Behar, Gieves (is this Gieves & Hawkes?), BB 1818, Bugatchi, RLPL linen - the first RLPL I've seen in person.
Brooks Brothers Pullover Zip Sweater.
Stuart McGuire (Hanover) Shell Cordovan Longwings
I told myself I wouldn't do this in this thread...
I'm here to tell you guys that you're all doing it wrong!
Here's side by sides of SWMBO and me in June of 2009 and June of 2010.
I had given up and was gaining 15 to 20 pounds every year. I'm wearing 42" shorts (well below my belly and true waist) in the left pic and 30" swim trunks (okay, Smalls). There's about a 100 lb difference between the two pics of me. It took 6 months to lose the weight. SWMBO dropped half a C-Note herself and went from size 16 on the left to a 6 on the right. Want moar? here we were in 2008 and then just aaround Thanksgiving last year. Lat pic is me just a few weeks ago.
She's a coach for a weight loss/get your life back plan. I had tried diets. Exercise. Phen-fen and exercise. I gave up and she began this little journey without me. Three months later, I caught a glimpse of her as she was walking away down the hall. I thought, "DAMN!"
Then I thought...I could do that for 3 months to see how it does. Sixty pounds later, I was well hooked. It's not for everyone. I hardly exercised and I know that some of you really enjoy working out several times a week. Okay, I walked on a treadmill for a couple of months, never exceeding a 5 mph pace. I'll admit that I DID lift dumb bells to give myself a little bit in the guns department and I did pushups to build up my chest so it wouldn't look like a ski slope.
Yes, you have to buy food every month but it's so stupidly easy, it's the only way I could have ever lost the weight. No counting calories/points/nutrition values. Just eat every 3 hours.
If all this sounds like a solicitation, well, I'll leave that to you. I like this forum too much to jeopardize my ability to visit and post but if anyone wants to know how it all happened...send a PM.
Or not. As you desire.
I just thought I'd share in case anyone felt as hopeless as I did a couple of years ago.
What size are the RLPL and longwings?
Damn, I was kinda happy at the prospect of it being Caruso. Thanks!!
Lardini. Nothing to write home about.
Wow, you guys look great!
The RLPL is marked Medium and the Longwings are 8 D/B.
Solicitation or brag or whatever, doesn't matter.
Let's not kid -- it isn't easy to lose weight, no matter the system. I lost 57 a decade ago (and have put on and taken off that last 20 at least 3 times since, ha).
You put in the work, and got the rewards. Well done. I hope you can sustain that weight loss over time. Ain't that -- in the words of the immortal Prince -- a bitch, Bob.
I basically only thrift in wealthy areas and I find crap 99% of the time. If you don't mind me openly asking, what area of NJ do you thrift. If you feel more comfortable you can shoot me a PM or just tell me to eff' off.
Or both. Brian's a complicated man.
^^Yeah, I've noticed. That's why I provided options. So I wouldn't feel bad if he told me to eff" off.
