Everything else on the tie appears correct, including the 11 o'clock-to-5 o'clock direction of the twill bias and the harmonious solid color of the silk tipping. I'd concur that the keeper probably got added later for legitimate reasons. A real counterfeiter would try to reproduce the Hermes label - it's not hard. Note that the design (7670) only tells you the design, not the colorway. An eBay seller has a great guide to Hermes counterfeits:

After a long dry spell I found a few decent things. A RL Polo light pink polo for $3. I've been looking for stuff to go with seersucker and madras. A medium blue Brooks Bros FC shirt in like new condition for $4. It is one of the non-iron ones, which I have not tried before. I know some around here don't like them. A white Zegna FC shirt for $4. Not sure if I really need another white dress shirt though.

I've got a $50 gift card for Marshall's, but I am just not finding anything worthwhile. I did get a Jerry Garcia tie for all of $1.00. I good day for a thrifty Deadhead.

Last couple of months haven't been that rich, but my brother and I have discovered an H. Huntsman hacking jacket from Louis International, a pair of J. M. Weston loafers in decent shape, a Charvet pochette and a tie, an Hermes tie, a Barbera handmade/Louis Boston cashmere & wool double breasted sports jacket and a few shirts from Thomas Pink and Turnbull & Asser.

BUT...best of all...a hilarious pair of slacks, a Chinese Dunhill knockoff, NWT. The inner waistband read: "HIGH QUALITY WESTERN STYLE KROUSERS". Attached tags on the slacks (one cloth, one metal) all sported the Dunhill logo (somewhat crudely replicated!), but a small paper brochure in one pocket read, "Danhill."

My best deal ever was a RLPL suit I picked up at the Sawgrass Mills mall for about $300.00 on clearance. I think I got it in 2001 or so, and I still wear it today. I fact, I am wearing it right now. Awesome suit, I don't know why it was on clearance.

It was super 150's, I think the original price marked was $2,900, so while I still spent $300, I got $2,600 off!

Here, per requests, are pix of a couple of vintage Brioni's I have found recently.

First is one from the early or mid 70s:

Note the angled besom pockets on each side of the chest and hips:

The label has been removed:

But the stitches left behind, plus the size label and of course the styling and quality of make, identify it as a Brioni.

This one is from five or more years previous, somewhere between the mid 60s and the early 70s. When I got it the lapels were pressed above the third button, Mod style, but a friend with greater sartorial acumen than me noted that the top buttonhole was double-faced, indicating that the roll should start lower, so I have re-pressed it and tried to restore the original roll.

The colorway of red and yellow on the blue green ground is phenomenal:

The label is intact on this one:

As for condition, the green one needs a bit of lining repair at the neck, while the brown one has a few holes I must decide whether to have revoven. But each is singular in its own way.

Found this blazer for $4 this week. The fabric doesn't look super fancy, but it might be wearable. Fit in the chest seems OK, probably need to shorten the sleeves. Tag says "Made in Yugoslavia". 2nd pic lighted to show pattern. What do you think? Keep or dump?

I finally went and searched long and hard today.
I found:
A turnbull and asser tie $1.22
A Faconnable tie (Breuer) $1.22 (brand new too)
A RLPL dress shirt, also new $5.00
A Gitman Bros shirt, looks NWOT $2.57
A RLBL cashmere sweater $3.57
A generic 2 ply cashmere sweater $2.57
A Brooks Brothers lambs wool zip neck sweater $5.00 (I would have passed but I love zip neck sweaters)
A Loro Piana polo shirt, perfect condition $2.57

So, no suits, coats, or shoes but a fair haul.

Alden #8 Shell bal Shortwing $3.99, inconspicuous among a group of brown shoes on a crowded shelf at a thrift. I recognized the folds and that "established 1884" inner heel imprint and am quite pleased.

Polysena and the world of finance (=B): Polysena is out for a walk. She comes to a river and sees B on the opposite bank. 'Yoo-hoo!' she shouts, 'How can I get to the other side?' B looks up the river then down the river and shouts back, 'You ARE on the other side.'
