Hi. I decided to go out to two more places that were kind of close by. The highlights:

    (Sorry for the poor lighting!)

Ermenegildo Zegna Su Misura navy blue pinstripe double breasted suit with dual vents and working surgeon's cuffs. The pants are pleated with cuffs. Jacket about a size 38 or 40 (42 inch chest). Pants about a size 32 x 28 inches or so (fits a bit longer due to a higher rise).

Domenico Vacca Alta Sartoria beige nylon safari-style windbreaker. Marked EUR 52 / US 42 or so.

    Both are available. Thanks! -M-

    I hope so.
    :eh:
There were these huge bins of clothes. And everybody was rifling through them, like crazy. And I grabbed one. And it fit.

Good news: It came off with a little fingernail polish remover, not exactly what I Iike to do, but no apparent harm--boy, do I feel stupid. They are, BTW, available, 8.5EEE, no v-cleat but still the bomb.

I don't think that they are trying to discourage flipping, I think that they are just idiots. I don't think that there are too many flippers around here, and I'm pretty small potatoes, although they do see me every day. I've only seen one other person with any degree of regularity, and I have no idea what she's after--she never ventures out of the women's section.

I found the shoes at SA, and a centralized distribution/pricing center is responsible. Folks in the stores are real nice but powerless. There's been all kinds of weirdness going on with SA for the better part of a year now. I suspect they've got someone new in charge who thinks he knows everything but is actually as clueless as he is faceless. These shoes, for example, were marked $3.99 and today was half off shoes. I snagged them as they unloaded a new box of inventory. You don't have to run a thrift store to know that you bring out new inventory AFTER the clearance sale is over.

More on the "discount" side of things (kind of), but I got restless and grabbed a pair of black AE Hale's at Nordstrom Rack. They are a lot like the 5th Avenues in a lot of ways, just with some extra broguing. The broguing is much more obnoxious on the brown version. Thankfully, the Rack carries Woodlore shoe trees for $12.50, so I was able to grab a pair of those right away, too.

    (like this, sans crease)

I was interested to see the Nordstrom Rack has a ton of US made BB shirts right now. All around $70, which is pretty steep yet. It was funny, actually, b/c the Nordstrom Rack is literally across from the BB Factory store, which only carries 346 stuff.

best day I've had in months -- at my usual places, which have been pretty bereft of "the good stuff" lately. These are in my size, but the dude who previously owned them was at least a head taller than me...so my tailor will get some work. But they are not long jacket cuts, which is odd.

    1) Polo DB heavy wool suit

    2) Polo 3-piece (the vest has lapels!) tweed suit

    3) Harris Tweed jacket

    4) And a 3-pack of Burberry's, Charvet and Sak's ties

    2 questions:
    1) Can you date the suits? I'm guessing mid-1980s?
    2) Is that Burberry's tie a 7-fold?

Burberry looks like Burberrys which is older. Need to open the back up to see if it's 7 fold...very easy to tell the difference.

Tweed suit = $$$$ (wheres the damn link for that $1200 tweed suit)?

That's a really nice winter haul. If you're moving it, you should be able to get a pretty penny.

There was more. I shouldn't say this because I'll get a flood of "go back for me's," heh. Just couldn't buy the whole store. Plus when the thrifting's going good, I feel I am gonna jinx myself if I get greedy.

Several Brookstweed jackets and another polo suit, a heavy wool yellow-khaki color with black and brown little houndstooth pattern...but 41R (the ones I got were in the 39-40 zone) -- a bit too big for me to get tailored. And a nice gray vintage Burberry's sport coat 38-39R. And a lovely but too-many-miles-on-the-odometer Paul Stuart blue blazer (metal buttons). THere was another Harris Tweed jacket 38R in tan and cream herringbone...it looked on me like I was wearing a rec-room couch but this darker-complexioned gent who was browsing with me put it on and it looked really great on him.

My total bill was just under $33 for the above lot.
