This may be my best find this year.....now that I have held one in my hands, I can see what the fuss is about.

Hello. After reading some of the recent posts RE: buying (and posting) for oneself vs. buying (and posting) for flipping / advice on flipping, I wanted to post a pair of shoes I picked up for myself at a local GW for $5.49. They are a vintage pair of "BARRIE Ltd." made in U.S.A. white bucks in a size 10. (I am a size 10 1/2, but I have to downsize for bucks.) They are in GREAT condition and ready for summertime... except it's the middle of January. Funny how that works out sometimes. Cheers! -M-

    * The Barrie Shoe store was in business for 70 years or so until it closed down in 2003. For the entire time it was in business, it was attached to the original J. Press store in New Haven, CT servicing Yale University. Trad / Ivy enthusiasts can understand why I'm pretty excited about these. [IMG]

I think I'm realizing how much thrifting is like dating used to be.
When I'm really trying and looking - I never get anywhere. When
    I'm not looking that hard...Bam!

There's a guy on AAAC who says he's a podiatrist and claims to have participated in amputating a foot that became hopelessly f'd up from wearing used shoes that didn't fit properly and that anyone who wears used shoes is asking for trouble because used shoes will never fit properly. He had, until a particularly ugly exchange awhile back, an irritating habit of inserting himself into conversations about used shoes and had folks convinced that used shoes are dangerous. There are still folks over there, I'm sure, who believe the quack.

    Nice Canali suit!

Somewhat general question - is there a way to tell the suit's approxmiate age from that tag? Or is it just a matter of being familiar with the various Canali tags and labels?

(also, having a hell of a time trying to post at work, so if I post something numerous times in a row, I apologize profusely in advance.)

That suit fits me and it is a problem because I want it, but am stretched in terms of trades/purchases. I hope TheWGP comes steamrolling in and takes it if you are flipping it. Otherwise, I will be in for it.

CottonDockers - it is recent, last 10 years certainly, possibly 5 or less years old.

I have no clue on aging the label....would love to hear comments on that. I have been searching the entire forum for hints on that, but, damn there's a lot of info on here.

Tag and label is recent, last 5 years probable. A great score, and if you are flipping it, you will have at least 3 people here that would jump on it.

Here's the Ike Behar tie I mentioned earlier. The lady of the house says it has a hint of green to it. In any case, it has a pretty thick lining, and I am fairly sure it has some wool-cashmere blend (no tag, so I can't be sure). File it under keep. Not the best tie find on the planet, but the construction is very solid. Highly recommend picking them up if you see one.
