I'm wearing these exact pants right now. Paid 4 bucks at the thrift, brought them home, and tapered them from the knee down to an 8" leg opening. If I EVER find high end, flat front chinos of any sort, I will do just this. To me, chinos look douchey and boring, so I generally stick with more fashion forward jeans. I'm starting to realize their appeal, but with 80% of them being parachute pants with oodles of pleats, I'm still going to go for the cheap option, altered by myself.

WOW, I came across that exact suit but left it on the rack, I bet my bottom dollar the one you found is the same one that I looked at. I could not find the pants for it, perhaps someone found the pants, put it together and voila, a complete suit for you. I also thrift in SF Bay area.

Which stores in the Bay Area do you normally go to?

Too many to count, I go to as many as I can (usually 4 or 5) in one hit on one day. No one store is better than another, only way to find is hit many and rely on lady luck.

Nat, thanks for the thoughts... the guy said it powers on, but it wasn't plugged in and I bet he doesn't have anything to hook it up to. I'll think about it, if I can get him down a bit I might go for it.

Heading to bed, but remembered I snapped these two pics earlier in case anyone else thought this was awesome... first pic is accurate color, etc. - it's made in USA, near-bulletproof-weight wool. Navy with chalk windowpane. It was 44R or 44L IIRC. If anyone wants a cheap proxy I'd be happy to snag it.

I found something really cool today. 3 button, super heavy herringbone tweed Aquascutum suit. Hacking pockets, flap breast pocket, made in England, hand stitching around the edges. Pants have a single forward pleat, button tab waistband, just all sorts of badass. Really reminds me of the Savile Row huntsman stuff. I will try to upload a picture tomorrow. 42L I believe if anybody is interested.

    Thought I'd summaraize...

Acecow put me onto this deal back at the end of the summer. I scurried into my local Macy's in time to score the last pair of 30 X 30's. This was the only color that was reduced at the time.
Here's a poorly angled camera phone pic from late last summer (before I learned the proper sleeve rolling method!).

Can this be the ugliest bespoke Holland & Sherry suit ever? Why would anyone have this made? Better question...why would I pick it up at the thrift store? This was on the rack for nearly 2 months, and I finally gave in. Doesn't look bad from a distance, but take a closer look. Yes, those are teal pinstripes, but the fabric is so nice to the touch. Working cuff buttons and lined pants.

Picked up 3 nice shirts from GW the other day that I put on B&S. Love the patterns on all 3 and the BB and IB shirts have really nice fabric. Would have kept all 3 if they fit me, but alas, few people in TX are small.
