I hear you on that. The Minneapolis Salvation Army thrift store parking lot has had everything from Mercedes AMGs and VW Phaetons to Maseratis and brand new BMW M5's .

Thank you Alan

It's true that part of the fun of going to a thrift shop is the hunt. The thrill of the find. I live in a city so it's rather out of my way to crouch through a plain, elephant gun in hand, hunting big game. Instead I chase the ultimate price/quality apparel. It's not about saving a $ (though an added bonus) always. I can and do purchase what I consider to be nice things at very close to retail. I shop thrift and vintage not because I have to but simply because I want to. Today the only spot in the same parking lot for my A6 was between an E350 and a Lexus LX Besides, all the money I save can go towards my club dues

Hey, I haven't got any problem with it. I think I would probably find it funny that anyone would be going to the yacht club under any circumstances. After the yacht club, it's off to the meeting with the dean about getting rid of those slovenly Deltas!

+1. I saw a 07 Bentley Continental GT in a thrift store parking lot the other day. This is in the Midwest too, I was slightly taken aback.

Hit up a Marshalls today with some hope that I may find some goodies. A recent thread inspired this trip. Of course, this is Edina, not New York.....so amongst Fubu, Polo RL, Tommy Hilfiger, CK and Kenneth Cole was a lone pair of Earnest Sewn fultons in my size. $20.....not exactly a steal, but I had to make the drive worthwhile.....

This is an old Ab. & Fitch shooting jacket that I found awhile back. I'm not sure how old it is, exactly. The interior pocket tag says "New York -- San Francisco -- Chicago;" according to wikipedia there were a number of locations that opened up in other cities by the early '60s, but who knows if those were ever added to the label. It's made like a tank, though -- the thing has clearly had a lot of use, but it's still in pretty good shape. The wool is heavy but not stiff. The buttons have a little "belt" design on them, and there's elastic in the breast pocket for shells.

^ That's one badass jacket. Abercrombie & Fitch of yore made nice things; too bad their sizing is quite generous.
