1. I'd like to announce that animated avatars are now available again. You'll have to reload, but they are once more possible.

We've been doing a ton of work behind the scenes. The site load speed was already under 1/2 of what Huddler's was, on average, and we installed cloudflare, which means that the site should be even faster. A ton more will go on in the weeks and months to come, and some things will be more visibile, and some less.

    Cheers,

    Fok.

If you are interested in starting now is the time. Lots of people getting rid of their stuff for charitable donations for taxes and/or to make room for holiday stuff. Once you start you'll be hooked.

Thrifting is a lot like golf. You'll hit bad shot after bad shot and say your going to give it up. Then you'll hit that one good shot that you'll always remember and it keeps you coming back.

Ha, that's probably the best analogy so far.

Hit up the local SA while I'm visiting my parents for the holidays. Not much out there, except for some older suits for PA shops that have long gone under. There were some BB and Burberry suits, but someone did their homework, and they were marked up to the near $50 range.

Update: I called eBay this morning and they lifted the listing restriction for 24 hours, and I was able to get it scheduled for later today.

Today's finds. Unsurprisingly, European shops yield drastically better hauls than their central New York counterparts.

    Notable finds:

Wicked striped silk knit. Anyone familiar with Luciano? (looks to be made in Florence). Also picked up one in navy.

    Borelli Napolli shirt. 17/43
    [IMG]

Burberry trousers, half lined. Seem to be of higher quality than recent Burberry of London. They also have the Prorsum logo on a belt loop. About a US 31
    [IMG]

Recent Brioni tie. Tried to pick up the unique weave of the silk, but my camera skills let me down.

Recent Brioni wool/silk dark charcoal sport coat. Size Eu 56, probably measures to about US 53.

And my favorite item of all time. Brioni tartan, DB blazer. Eu 50. Damn work of art.

    Happy Holidays, boys.

^^^ Type Amvets in Google, there are 3 of them in SD. GW's also not too bad. Also there is Vetaran's thrift store near one of the Amvets as well.

Day of near misses. Nice PRL staple grey pinstripe suit, really soft wool material...moth hole in the shoulder. Nice Brooks Bros all Merino Wool crewneck sweater....moth hole in the shoulder. Gitman bros button down - ink stain. 3 freshly dry cleaned and nice colored & patterned BB shirts all in my size - food stains. And that damn Brioni zip sweater with the huge run across the sleeve was still staring me in the face from last visit. [IMG][IMG] [IMG]

Did pick up a nice Brooks Bros topcoat in great exterior condition, but with a little bit of inside sleeve lining wear.
