Ho-ly crap. So I went back by today, not expecting anything, and look what I stumbled upon...

    [IMG][IMG]

(It's the matching pants for that orphaned Zegna Napoli Couture jacket I found yesterday)

In fantastic condition, and they almost fit!! (Just a tad big in the waist, but should be easy to take in). Un-freaking-believable. I really was certain they would be nowhere to found since this store is really high traffic and I'm pretty sure there are some flippers that make their way through there...Can't believe I found them. Nataku, I seriously owe you my first born child - thanks for the suggestion, since I probably wouldn't have gone back after I left.

I found a nice Z Zegna jacket this week. Charcoal grey with purple pinstripes. The paper tag revealed this to be a very recent jacket and part of a suit. Searched the men's pants, no luck. Searched the women's pants and there they were. Appeared to have been put in the washer and maybe the dryer. Purchased anyway in the hope they would iron out. Tried them on at home and they had been shrunk three sizes. Sad what people do to their clothes.

Sounds good!! I'll be personally delivering it, will require you to sign an affidavit, swearing that it is in the described condition, will also have 3 witnesses present to sign affidavits saying the same, and I'll videotape and photograph the entire transaction...work for you? [IMG]

    In praise of Brand Whoring

    We browse through racks
    of shirts and slacks
    while scanning for the labels.
    Kiton... Brioni?
    Whoa! Not Armani.
These are the stuff of fables.

    "Pish tosh", say those,
    who know of clothes.
    "What matters is construction!
    The name inside,
    while bona fide
    is nothing but seduction."

    "But wait", I say.
    "What better way,
    to quickly cull the herd?
    Which, of any,
    among so many
    can quickly become blurred."

    The answer lies
    on backs of ties
    and sweater collars, cabled.
    The stuff we shop
    and want to kop
    is always better labeled.

Today, I was browsing absently through a rack of assorted sweaters when I came across a blue Lands' End Canvas sweatshirt.
I might have passed over it, since I wasn't really looking for a sweatshirt but the "Canvas" on the label caught my eye. I'd seen a thread on it here and it clicked. I pulled the garment from the rack and realized I had found a rose among thorns. It was, hands down, the finest piece of clothing of its type I had ever held.

I kopped. Oh yes. I kopped.

Awesome! Glad you managed to snag them, now you have a complete Zegna Napoli Couture suit. Napoli Couture stuff blows me away. The amount of handwork in these things is amazing.

Yes! Love it! Also, Lands End Canvas stuff is surprisingly nice, especially at thrift prices. I have a few chambray shirts from them. Cool score!

I'll finally be getting a vacation where I have time to do a lil thrifting. Any thrifters in DC willing to share some decent spots? I'll only be there a few days. First time in DC =)

I just cleaned out the Rockville Goodwill.

Actually, I left an Aquascutum suit that had no visible sizing but fit like a 48 or so. Also an orphan Pal Zileri charcoal chalk stripe jacket/no pants in a similarly too large for me size.

I was really bummed that the GW "No Public Restroom" policy that limits me to one hour or less (the fitting room cuts about 15 minutes) caused me to leave before I had a chance to decide about the distressed leather Le Donne backpack @ $8. Prolly gone by now.

Dig do you have a condition that causes you to go to the restroom quite often? I'm not making fun of you or anything, its just what I interpreted from this.
