    Cool. Thanks guys!

I looked up some information and their prices begins at $10k HK Dollars for a suit. This one is striped, Super 130s and has working sleeves so I m happy with my purchase.

At most, 4 of those were worth buying.

Went to a warehouse sale today and picked up a Canali tie for $60 and a new Italian suit by Pasini for $100. (Not a well-known name, but it's Super 110s wool, half-canvassed, surgeon's cuffs, twin vents).

On the way back I dropped into a couple of op shops and found:

Gran Sasso long sleeve knit top

Brooks Brothers Golden Fleece long-sleeve polo

    Brioni FC dress shirt

Zegna grey wool dress pants, EU46

Zegna by Incotex (I think) khaki wool dress pants, EU58

Thanks for the feedback. But how are the Lanvin, BB Makers, J Crew or Brownlow linen garbage?

Because but the only ties in that lot that are even close to wearable and not horribly dated are the repp stripes, and even those aren't great.

J.Crew ties are kinda junk, it's nice to thrift if you see one in a pattern you like for a couple bucks, but that's it.

The Lanvin, even if it was wearable, is licensed crap, as are most of the other name brand ties in there.

Having said that, if you'll look through this thread you'll find plenty of other people who've made exactly the same mistakes you have. Chalk this up to a learning experience and keep at it.

I saw 2 BB velvet/purple/red ties with orange squares for $15 each NWT. Is that too pricey to flip?

I found an Italian tie--kicking myself for forgetting the brand--which opened up to reveal a rather naked woman having, shall we say, a good time with herself. It had a stain, so I didn't buy it, but I'd never seen a tie with actual silkscreen hardcore pornography before. (Normally, I might dry clean for so unique an item, but I didn't shall we say want to speculate on what the stain was from.) I don't think this item's going to move, so if I'm back in the same store I'll try to get a pic.

^^ I'd pick it up if the price is right (less than $3) and try to have it dry cleaned. These ties are pretty sought after. There is a special name for them (I forget the exact term, though).

Don't feel too bad. I probably would have bought the BB346 and the Robert Talbots. It's really about what you personally would wear than about brands. Brand names mean nothing if the styles are outdated or you pay too much for them in a thrift. You're better off to buy a couple no name ties that you would wear than to have dozens of name brand ties that you won't.
There are of course exceptions to this. For instance there are tons of ugly Versace ties and Brioni ties out there that bring big money on ebay.
