Hmm, I've been meaning to learn how to make a gif...

The scene is from the opening of episode 2.4, "Pipeline Fever". :teach:

There was a little street market at the weekend and I picked up these two items:

A striped jacket (I usually avoid striped coats, but this is nice) Just €4.50:

    It has nice mother-of-Pearl buttons:

    The lining hasn't been bagged:

You can see the D-tacks at the end of the pocket piping:

    Two views of the inside:

Notice the flap-inserts at the armholes:

The other item was these Alden shoes at a mere €3.00:

Total cost just €7.50. Not bad for a wander around a little street market.

Amazing score on those Aldens, especially including shoe bags.

What always baffles me is how they end up at a street market (i.e. someone trying to make some money) and yet at only €3.By implication someone got them somehow for free, or at least for sufficiently little that they turned a profit at €3, but they didn't do the research that would have indicated they were worth much more.

That's the thing that differentiates clothing from something like antiques - Google will give you a quick idea of a brand's cost / value, whereas an old item with no makers mark is rather harder to research.

I was thinking the same thing. The last bit about antiques makes me wonder how the guys on shows like Antiques Roadshow and Buried Treasure do what they do. It must take a ton of reading and a ton of watching random auctions.

The jacket is nice... but it looks to be an orphan. For the price I still would have bought it. That said the shoes are an even better find.

GW and Salvation Army stock everyday here no matter if it's a sale day or holiday. Even on big sale days they will be pushing stuff out of the back. Otherwise I'd just ask. Never hurts.

My SA says they put out 3,000 new items every day (so they say) and the store is not a BIG one either.
