Good find. The contrast between the outer patinated leather and the light brown interior is stunning.

Overall I just think it a little odd that they would date the manufacture? Not aware of any other company who does this, Papworth, Swaine Adeney etc. included. I have a vintage Swaine Adeney four piece leather luggage set and none are dated.

@carreragt7 Unlike Nat, I don't know a whole bunch about the uniforms per se. However, my knowledge concerns military patches and medals.

Spoiler: Description of Army patches

The patch with the letter A inside the star is the Sixth U.S. Army class A patch. This unit was activated in 1943 (it had been created a few decades earlier), and as we'll see in a few minutes, served extensively in the South Pacific in World War II (think Guadalcanal, Philippines, Iwo Jima, etc.). The olive drab background on this patch was used from 1943-1960.

The patch with the latter T is for a Technician 4th Grade, and was used in WWII and Korea. (Used by combat-related men such as tank drivers, or support-related such as mechanics, cooks).

Now for my favorite patch: The blue patch with the red arrow and stars. This is called the USARPAC patch, which stands for U.S. Army Pacific. I love the amount of symbolism in this one: The blue is for the Pacific Ocean. The 4 stars on the bottom is the Southern Cross (minus one star which isn't visible year-round), the 7 stars on the top are the Big Dipper, and the far left star is the North Star.
There are 12 stars total = 12th month = December. 7 stars on top = 7th day. 4 stars on bottom plus 1 star on left = 41. Together the stars represent Dec. 7, 1941 (attack on Pearl Harbor).
The Red arrow is a symbol used on battle maps to show troop advancement. The red color honors the blood shed by our troops. Here, it symbolizes the battles from Guadalcanal (right) to the final victory in Tokyo (left).

The diamond-shaped patch with the eagle inside a gold ring is the WWII Honorable Discharge patch. Long story behind it, but basically it allowed returning vets to wear their uniform instead of civilian clothing, and among other things allowed for free bus/train transportation.

The small square patch with the gold laurel wreath is a WWII MUC patch, or Meritorious Unit Citation. It denoted at least 6 months of meritorious conduct against the enemy in armed combat.

At the end of the sleeves are 4 gold bars. Typically, each bar represents 3 years of service.

So our veteran in this case was likely a technician (tank driver, combat engineer, mechanic, cook, etc.) who served in the Army during WWII. He was in action for at least 6 months in the South Pacific. He was honored for meritorious conduct, and was eventually honorable discharged.

Did some holiday shopping last night for the Mrs. with my sidekick, Mr. Bushmills neat. Bought a couple of Hermes scarves that passed the hand rolled, downward accent on the e, designer name that make me an evanescent expert. Now in the cold light on day,I'm not sure.......any thoughts on authenticity would be appreciated.

Before my self over-hyped haul becomes a ghost rolex:
Started w/ this disappointment, there were 3x of them. All looked unworn and had very cool custom detailing.

But there were 5x of these, all similarly unworn and with great fabrics and cool details. No maker tag though.

and.. it's no 78 NWT something or other that's coming soon, but it made my day. The rest from that store:
