Had a pretty crazy day yesterday. I was walking the dog and saw a house about a block from mine getting cleared out. Saw all kinds of high end speakers and electronics. Talked to the guy sitting out front who informed me the person living in his property was a prolific thief, addict, hoarder and apparently had been squatting in this guys house for close to a year, using squatters rights to stay. Until yesterday. Dude said have at it basically, so I grabbed what I could carry. Picked up a Sony turntable, Realistic preamp and a nice JVC receiver. Went back a little while later and the guy said I should check out the back yard. I couldn't believe what this guy had amassed. Probably 100K worth of electronics, bikes, tools etc. One of my neighbors walked by and I said go get your car lol. I left there with 2 reel to reels, a set of Bose speakers, some more preamp type things, a klipsch sub and a pair of Boston T390s.

wait they didn't actually sell it to you for $1.49, right?

i was at a goodwill that USED to be decent. now it's pretty obvious everything is going out the back door to their online auction site.

there was one pair of decent burberry eyeglasses with their case, labeled for $4.99. the lady swiped it out of my hand and said "that's for online".

i said "what's the point of even having this store if you are only going to put garbage out on the shelves?"

she said "well, maybe we'll miss something".

i was fairly annoyed the rest of the day.

PS - that store has been nearly devoid of customers since many have "caught on". so i guess "let the invisible hand" do its job? no customers, lay off employees, close store, repeat.

it's probably how many of these stores are going to go. all they need is a donation station for either auctions or the outlet bins. what's the point of physical stores?

Sure why not.
I stroll into this store at six pm.and this is hanging in the showcase clearly misspriced .
They tried to tell me it's supposed to be 149.99 but I said hey that's your problem it's priced and displayed so they had to give it to me .

i love travelware. i found a very similar centurion case in natural finish. i eventually relented and sold it on craiglist for $25. nobody wanted it. even in the SF bay area. i was shocked.

it's now full of a bunch of foam for camera equiepment somewhere.

Oh yeah, walked past there again last night when my girl got off work to show her the craziness and there was a zero Halliburton case sitting there. Yoink! View attachment 1930253 View attachment 1930255

Uhhmmm don't you have any laws against grabbing obviously stolen goods?
Bro the sheriff was there when they were cleaning it out. He said technically you have to wait 24 hours before you can start taking stuff, but the owner of the property just said to come back in half an hour lol. Denver police have so many problems, they could give 2 fvcks about some stolen stereo equipment. There’s full blown stolen bike chop shops operating right out in the open here.
