One of the best episodes is episode one of season 3, "Did you see the sunrise?"

Another classic is the season four premiere, "Home from the Sea", an awesome episode.

Do you live in Louisiana, by any chance? I just came back from a work trip there. Magnum aired at those times you describe.

If your a fan of Magnum you must watch the old Rockford files (greatest tv show ever made ) where Selleck appears as a private eye called Lance White .
This was the genesis for Magnum where the producer remembered him when it was time to cast the role .
I think he was on two or three episodes .

got Garner playing the classic Chandler detective , with Bruce Lee (!) Carrol O Connor Rita Moreno. sounds solid .

Wait,i got my Marlowe's mixed up.
I was thinking of the Long Goodbye with very short scene with Schwarzenegger as a mustouched thug.
I've seen both,both a great Flix.
