I was reading that maybe years ago steaming worked well, when the glue was more fresh. However trying that today may do more harm than good as the glue's dried and formed a crystalline bond with the paper. If it were my 2nd State copy, I'd leave it alone

That's what I was thinking that glue is what 60 years old ?
It's not a love letter to your wife you wanna steam open know what I'm saying .

The plan is definitely to leave it be. The "V' from Ringo's black shirt under the bucher's coat is pretty easy to spot in-person. Makes a very cool conversation piece. Plus, I think over time these untouched second state covers will become even more of a rarity.

What I’ve always loved about thrifting is the relative assessment of value. By implication, anyone donating something values it at zero.

Beyond that, there’s what the thrift prices it at, what you will pay, and what it might sell for.

Sometimes it’s nice to buy things not because there is any margin to be had, but for the sheer interest. Like this Victorian era pewter tankard. Priced less than a small takeaway pizza, and much more interesting.

I've been watching this on Gr*iled for a while. Seller is willing to take $650. The YKK zippers kind of concern me but everything else looks good. I'm not gonna buy it, but might be worth it for someone here.
