Recently picked up a pair of Alden 987 Shell Cordovan loafers in my size for $10. They're my first pair of actual good leather shoes — any care / maintenance tips to get them looking nice are welcome!

Nice pickup - Shell is easy. Get some shoe trees, cordovan cream or Venetian shoe cream and a horse hair brush. Throw the trees in. Wipe them down with a damp rag. Apply some cordovan cream or Venetian shoe cream and let them sit for like 10-20 minutes. Brush the ever living **** out of them with your new horsehair brush until you hit whatever level of shine you want. Depending how long they’ve been sitting and how dry they feel you can throw some (a little) conditioner on the interior liner to make sure it isn’t super dried out.

That right rubber heel lift looks like it may be wearing a little thin but hard to tell from the angle of your pictures. If it is, throw a new top lift on at a cobbler before you hit the leather. It’s cheaper to replace that than having to buy new heel blocks if you hit leather and wear into it.

just lovely! i think some Bick 4 occasionally should be all they'll need. buff the crap out of them with a horsehair brush. if you wanna "get fancy" buy some black Venetian shoe cream for like once a year application.

and keep them in shoe trees. they should last a lifetime.

I believe that is the Carhartt Cotton Duck "Arctic" vest. Beautiful piece.
I'm pretty sure that is from the '90s, before Carhartt moved production to Mexico. It's definitely more desirable because of the USA made.
I recently sold a "Detroit" jacket, same vintage, sold in one day...

Wife's new-ish kitchenaid mixer crapped out recently... Found this Cuisinart DLC-7 PRO (i think that's the biggest bad boy they made back in the day?), complete with manual, warranty card and sales receipt for $10. Made in Japan. Probably will outlast any new crap made these days. Mofo was $235 in 1984!
