Was about to buy a weird wood grain plastic non-flip solid state clock radio of unknown make (to me at least)

But then found a wooden Trav-Ler 5170 tube clock radio

The clock works. Even if I can't get the radio working it will make a nice conversation piece. The plug looks like a house fire in the making

Ok gents - I'm either walking away from the greatest thrift ever or I just saved myself from being the biggest sucker of the week Week WEEK.

Store closes in 30 minutes so I know it will be there in the morning. Price is 1500 smackeroos

Thoughts?

Rather than just going "fake" and leaving it at that. I'll go in depth:

Now we can't know for certain if that eBay listing is legit.. but since that's what the store was basing their pricing off of we can compare it to the watch in question and point out numerous differences between the two:

fakeroller.jpg

Right away my eyes went to the bezel. The finish, font, sizing of marks and placement is pretty bad. Look at the 2 "30" marks. And then the top right area of the bezel with the lines... look how thick and close to the edge they are. The top lume dot (excuse the terminology, i'm not a horologist or obsessive collector) in the triangle appears to be completely missing as well.

The face/dial is pretty bad too. Those lume dots are so small, and the 6 o clock one is far too short.

Then the metalergy - The band.. The gaps between links is too large, and uneven/crooked looking. The brushed finish isn't correct, and the edges of the links are all rounded over too much.

I would've given the manager of that store a talking to.

I don't really know watches all that well except for the ones that I want. I thought the bracelet band was a fake because it felt and looked too flimsy but wondered about the watch itself. I couldn't remember if the case back is supposed to be blank. I snapped about 12 pictures on my cel with the intention of studying them when I got home

In 12+ years of doing this, I've only found one good watch.

Got out this afternoon. Most interesting are the non-clothing items.
Oldest dated clothing item I've come across so far, '47 trousers. They have like a 15+ inch rise, apparently your waist was just below your rib cage back then.

Not clothing, but Filson has a collab with Ranchlands right now. This isn't one of them.

Gonna break with tradition and brag on the price :) It was actually unpriced because it had just been dropped off, and they hooked me up. Always be friendly with the staff!

2 of 3 I picked up last week for $4.99 ea. Stuff like this I don't seek out, but if it's on a fresh cart/rack, I'll give it a once-over. Glad I grabbed them. The one not pictured sold in a few minutes for $50, these got bid up before they could go BIN, so we'll see tomorrow.

Why would anybody put a real Rolex on a fake bracelet.where is the logic here ?
Not tying to bust your balls just makes no sense .
