Also any thoughts on these Versace Jeans? A friend was gifted these jeans by some older lady.

GRANDPARENT THRIFTING!
Because these days, I’ll take what I can get.

Sadly, my grandmother passed away, and not having much experience, I asked for nothing, sure in the knowledge that my relatives, knowing my interests, would save me some cool stuff. Maybe just one Hermès scarf out of the bunch.

Man, was that naive!

I got nothing. Nothing but a messy floor headed to Goodwill.

I do know how to look under beds, though. So look at this! It’s locked, but a peek under the hood reveals...a shiny Civil War era violin from the one and only Europe. (Can’t wait to play it).

You didn’t check that garage shelf, did you, aunt Carla! Here’s some stuff from 19-*******-05 — some dope-ass aftershave and a slew of gentlemen’s pipes.

Oops, what’s that mixed in with the costume jewelry? Oh...it’s a cool (Mad Men era?) cigarette lighter. Made in JAPAN. You can tell it’s by the folks who brought you Voltron ‘cause of all the weird, out of place gears.

Nevermind this — it’s just a useless box of MINT UNOPENED CASSETTE TAPES, ideal for taping some newfangled thing called the “CD”.

Typical bad boy grandmother ****...

NOT PICTURED:

Early twentieth century American coins with —uhm — big swastikas on them. I knew in Asia it was a symbol of luck, but had no idea American companies used it the same way.

From Wikipedia:

“...it became a popular symbol of luck in the Western world in the early 20th century, as it had long been in Asia, and was often used for ornamentation. The Nazi Party adopted the symbol in the 1920s, and its use in Western countries faded after the Nazi association became dominant in the 1930s.”

In with a purse my grandmother had as a kid, along with fair and bus-type tokens. She would have tossed them if she knew. Don’t want these in my house, dunno how to sell ‘em.

Stay tuned for future episodes when your favorite recluse thrifter dives into the Tetanus Dome Antique Tool Box of Doom...

Sorry she's gone, from her collection she must have been a badass.
Looks like you got the real treasures.

1. you are going to have to pick that lock if you want to make the list.
2. you can palm off the coins to an antique coin dealer, or have them smelted into an ingot if silver. -or a peace sign trinket.

The Tetanus Dome adventure has me getting the popcorn ready.

FYI: A lot of brands are shutting down physical stores and/or affected by COVID so it may affect your resale values or they're all irrelevant to this thread:

- Brooks Bros
- AllSaints
- Frank + Oak
- TM Lewin
