True story: one time I was helping unbox some books for the upcoming school year, rows upon rows of middling crap for middle schoolers. One of them was a book by Winnie Cooper, Hot Algebra: Exposed! The gimmick was students were supposed to be attracted to Winnie Cooper, and therefore would want to do math. The department chair took one look at it, grabbed it from my hand, and said, NO!
