Thanks for the tip. Have heard of deoxit but never tried it. Looks like I should grab a can or two... Apparently these buttons are notorious for a little corrosion and indeed, one of them is already a tad bit scratchy already. Mechanical motion not enough...

I can totally see vintage audio becoming my latest hobby rabbit hole.

The D5 cleans oxidation and the F5 lubes and protects. At bare minimum you have to clean the volume, balance, and tone controls. Getting access to the pots is different on every receiver: sometimes from the top, sometimes from the bottom, and sometimes you have to remove the entire faceplate. There is no rhyme or reason to it.

I normally spray D5 into the hole in each potentiometer (read: knob), work it back & forth fully about 50 times and then move on to the next. WHen done I let them dry out fully for a couple of hours or even overnight (it evaporates), then repeat the same process with F5

It's a lovely rabbithole to inhabit. Welcome to the madness

Of course, but thrifting is pukka in the states. I do miss the thrifts back in DC though! Charlotte is yet to be figured out, though there are more Depop kids here.

And here I thought DC thrifts fell off hard! What were your favourite haunts?
