Nothing crazy here but these are super nice. Rothy’s are great.

After a nice clean they’re good to go.

The reddish boots in the basket definitely look Vibergy.. But something about the stitching and those sole edges are a little off for Viberg.. But on almost the same level-ish. I feel like the stitch-per-inch is usually higher on their goodyear welts.

Bought this Dunhill with fades thinking that I could just use saphir conditioner to even out the fading a bit,..but it stained and marked the leather!
What type of leather is this? Aniline maybe? Is there another product I can use to condition it without damaging it?

If it's analine leather and the soluble dyes have worn or faded in spots like around the collar and cuffs (or the leather has absorbed body oils or been exposed to a lot sun), then pretty much any conditioner you use is going to be absorbed differently across the jacket and create darker and lighter spots. You could try warming the leather up with a hair dryer to open the pores to see if that helps with a more even absorbtion. And the darker spots will probably fade with time and wear. Or you could just call it patina, since analine leather is known for its fading. Nice jacket!

Thanks @JohnAAG hairdryer is a good tip. It’s all sun fading, like new but stored by a window probably.
Renovateur and Bick reacted badly so I’ve ordered some balm for aniline leather, if that doesn’t work I’ll just sell it as it is.

Wow that jacket is fantastic! It seems to me that any conditioner you add that discolors will discolor both faded and unfaded sections in a similar way. Any conditioner that doesn’t permanently darken misses the mark, it seems.

Have never redyed anything let alone leather, but it strikes me that might get the most uniformity.

First do no harm. It’s really a gorgeous jacket. It won’t fetch top dollar maybe, but more work with a potentially more evident result doesn’t seem worth it to me. Managing how the two leathers meet and transition-eek! Gives my ocd fits.

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
