Papillon is/was a store in NJ somewhere (Hackensack?) that like Courtoue, Bernini, The Clotherie, Louis Boston and others got Italian designers to private-label/white label their products with the haberdasher's name/logo. A pretty common finding. So yeah, it's a private-label Brioni for the Papillon store.

I am the farthest thing from a banjo expert, but have dealt with Andy Hohwald at banjowarehouse.com on some thrifted and auction banjos. Extremely knowledgeable, responsive and very fair purchase prices for the flip. Paid me via PP before I shipped, IIRC.
That's what I figured, just couldn't find much info poking around online. I appreciate the help!

I was pretty happy about this stop until the went to the next one to see a recent Burberry bomber jacket with mental embroidery on the back on a new rack and was about to grab it before some ratty reseller pushes me out the way and takes it. That's pissed me off, have some decorum.

But at least I found a flag sweater finally.

I'm not getting into a fight in goodwill over a piece of clothing. If he needs it that badly, then sure.

You guys are gonna be annoyed with me!

I just left behind about 45 charvet (and two 7 fold kiton) ties.

None of them got me too excited and they were $6 each. For $2, I would have probably bought them all... maybe get around to flipping at some point.

They're in west los angeles. DM me for the address if you're interested.
Guess who made the 2-hour morning commut to LA this morning 🥲

Shoutout to @Centaurus3200 for the heads up! Gotta treat you to a drink or something, at the very least.

As a little bonus...

Tag was cut, but the TheRealReal tag caught my attention. I know they carry a mixed bag of stuff, but am I correct in thinking this is a Charvet shirt with the neck label removed?

EXCELLENT!

glad you got them!

did you leave some ties behind? did you plead your case for a bulk discount? that's what i was gonna do but didn't have the energy.

these are a real solid flip, but i've stated my objections with ebay in the past. i'm just a "cash and carry" kind of guy ;-)

Finally found something of value, though the frame is a little beat up and there is a tiny bit of water damage at the bottom, still worth it for $30:

Any Japanese art experts care to comment on the worth of this? Was listed at $75:

i've learned a little bit about ink wash paintings , it could well be from China idk the styles that well . but the red chop mark is often the owner or the artist , i'd just run the characters through Google translate , you should at least be able to figure out which country its from

Definitely chinese. The problem with these is that unlike western oil art, there are so many amateur artists out there of this style that unless you really know the artist and have provenance they have the same value as any wall poster. I can read the first half of the chinese script, which dates it to spring 1975.

coat season is winding down, losing the outerwear sections in a lot of stores but its not over yet-
IMG_6593.jpeg

nwt smartwool vest for personal, been a lifesaver in the generally nasty winter spring segue

IMG_7034.jpeg

IMG_7086.jpeg

this cloudlike 95% alpaca overcoat from Jil almost certainly belonged to the same gal as the Escada
IMG_7061.jpeg

and finally, in case we needed more evidence that the universe is unfair, this nearly unworn detroit jacket came out on a fresh rack about 3 minutes after I got to the store. Got a lot of looks walking around with it until I managed to bury it in a cart
IMG_7062.jpeg

made in Mexico so not the OG stuff but its amusing that older carhartt stuff is as sought after as many of the high tier Italian makers.
