I think I've run into all types of scumbags at thrifts but I've never had a bad/rude experience with an employee. Maybe NY thrifts just vet them well but all at worst some are kind of apathetic but 90% of the time friendly and helpful.

Pop on Hermes and Stefano Ricci. Now I just need to find more occasions to wear ties...

LEN Lifestyle alligator belt. Almost feels like suede. Had never heard of LEN before, but pretty insane to think about spending nearly $700 on a belt of all things.

Turnbull & Asser Navy Blazer. Thought they just made shirts and ties, so was surprised to see this.

Couple of Brioni suits, chalkstripe and navy. Suddenly encountering Brioni all over the place, but I'm certainly not complaining.

and the full frenchy. the guy who opened it up for me wrote down the reference and serial numbers. Probably going to post some photos to the watch thread later.

the necklace (in addition to keeping the receipt from blowing away) is an unusually nice piece of costume jewelry by Weiss that should recoup the purchase a few times over.

Thanks to everyone for your input, this has been an harrowing and exciting couple of days and feels like the culmination of about a decade of thrifting (and following this thread) and it means a great deal to be able to share the experience with those who understand the context and the odds. Although a Rolex is probably the one come up that normies
will actually appreciate, go figure.

Christ i’m turning into jompso, that will do. Until next time, my friends.
May I post some pics to the vintage watch fb page? I'll keep It super generic.

Congrats on being blessed by the thrift gods! Looked good first glance and glad it was real. Hope you replace the crystal at least

Some recent finds.

1-button Brioni jacket for Jack Taylor. The pants were at the same thrift store, but someone mangled them beyond redemption.

Blue Stripe Canali suit and an unfortunately orphaned Grey jacket.

My first Kiton in about 8 years. Only found the jacket, unfortunately.

J Brand jeans.

Finally, a Levi's jacket that I would love some more info on. A brief Google search tells me that it's from the 70s, but I haven't seen the yellow tag before. Also, it's stiff as a board and has practically no wear. Old stock, perhaps?

i only acknowledge Chicago Transit Authority as far as Chicago is concerned ;-)

Late 80’s Chicago is admittedly a guilty pleasure of mine. I wore out a few cassettes of Chicago 19 over the years. :hide:
