model is 646 ( there were several models of bellbottom ) prob 70s or maybe early 80s and the flasher tacks are there , so pretty good condition

I believe both are from 79. First numbers on third row should be month and year on this tag which was used 70s to early 80s, with first pair using three numbers and second two I think. So august and feb.

This is a grail for me but speaking of rugs, anyone care to enlighten me on where to find these things consistently (even if it's above thrift pricing). There are so many smaller rug dealers that are selling vintage rugs that there has to be an obvious source that I'm overlooking? Flea markets, importing, etc?

Here in LA, there are plenty of dealers who specialize in them at the flea markets (along with stores that often sell imports and older ones together). Generally when I buy them it's from estates or from flea market dealers who don't specialize in them, because they don't charge the specialty dealer markup. They also sell for reasonable prices (though not bargain prices) at most of the local auctions that sell antiques. Usually at least a few in each auction. I can't say I've ever seen a decent one at a thrift store, though. Even a fancy thrift store.
