Day 2 of thrifting and I've been to every shop in my town.

Found a Ted Baker cardigan and a jacket in my size that I'll be keeping. A vintage DAKS suit jacket and an amazing vintage Grenfell shooting(?) jacket that was sold in a men's wear shop in my equally small home town that shut over 20 years ago! Very strange coincidence that it's ended up where I live now. IMG_20200813_145457.jpgIMG_20200813_145729.jpgIMG_20200813_145744.jpgIMG_20200813_145623.jpg

Just curious - are you buying to resell or for personal? If the former, you are falling into the trap that we all do at the beginning and buying too much, too quickly. You need to be constantly looking at the market and base your decisions on that. DAKS and Grenfell are nearly always a pass unless for personal. The resale is just dire on those things. Factoring in your time, fees, postage etc you’re not going to be making money unfortunately.

Would generally agree, but Grenfell can make decent money if a vintage piece. Things to look for are natural fabrics (e.g. no poly blends) and no diffusion labels like Crossfell. The latter was often made overseas too, which is another thing to avoid.

Some of the older Grenfell stuff is also made from Ventile cotton which has it’s own market.

You’re right - certainly the Cordings stuff and collabs. Unfortunately a lot of the older Grenfell just always will be dated and never seems to find a market.
