Yesterday's haul, or at least the menswear portion:

Albert Ltd. fulled herringbone wool shooting coat, made by Weather Coat Guild. I think 1970s?

    [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

Brooks Brothers 42R 2-button wool (sportcoat?) What do you call this design? Windowpane houndstooth?

AFAIK. I think @Orgetorix posted about it once or twice.
That is called a gunclub, (or gun club), since some shooting club in Britain had a houndstooth with a windowpane as their tartan.

Damn I thought I had it made when "Jompsoey" entered the thread lexicon, a verb for being extremely long winded and wordy (few would refer to this as having it made, but I enjoyed it) ...you however achieved being the face of what all members strive for, finally famous.

    Was at a store...

Saw this pair of shoes. I knew instantly they were shell, and thus worth a closer look.

I grabbed a shoe and looked inside. Was not familiar with this name.

    Looked a bit further in...

Quickly grabbed the other shoe, and my excitement was confirmed.

    ALDEN SHELL POP!!!

Alden #954 Monk Strap Oxfords, Aberdeen Last. 9 C? Color #8?

Have thrifted shell before, have thrifted Aldens before... but never the two combined. They're in a bit of rough shape.. seems like someone maybe used some black polish on them. Wondering if these would be good candidates for "Cordovan by Cap'n".

This is what I live for... those big pops that are out there, lurking on shelves and racks. [IMG]

I don't know that there is an actual authoritative convention but for what it's worth that's not what I'd call that. That has jagged edges like houndstooth so I would call that shepherd or houndstooth check/plaid.
Gun club, in my nomenclature, is characterized by intersecting straight line windowpanes. All intersections form 90 degree angles, unlike glen plaid or houndstooth check where the intersections form a different geometry. This has to do with the warp and weft in a way I don't really understand.
Either way, district and gun club are the "clean" ones and shepherd, glen plaid and houndstooth are the messy ones.

I did a whole thing on this on my tumblr complete with photos.

    Hey quick question...

A little while ago, someone posted some "Kris Van Assche" sneakers / athletic shoes... I was wondering who that was, and if those are generally a good cop? I've tried doing a forum search for them, and tried going back a ton of pages... but haven't found the post with em. I know it was just in the past 2 weeks or so.

I saw a pair somewhere, NWOB... I stupidly forgot to snap a pic of em too, so I don't really remember the model. But if they are like some super grail streetwear item, I can go back or proxy em for someone.

    Thanks.

*Edit: I think they looked something like this:

I'm completely clueless with that avant-garde streetwear stuff.

They do pretty well resale wise, they seem to have a decent following (Shoes). Wouldn't say its GRAIL level, maybe to some. If you can pick them up for fairly cheap, i'm sure you won't have that much trouble moving them. KVA is like mid tier in terms of quality, and hasn't gotten much recognition, but some of their multilaces are sick. Than again, i'm mostly speaking out of my ass from what I see.
