If you're smelling something French it might be the buttload of cheese I brought back from the motherland

But now I have to brainfuck y'all and post all the non-cheese stuff I brought back (read clothes :D). Coming soon.

Thought I'd struck out today, but as I was walking out of the last store, I spotted a guy loading a cart with artwork, so I asked if I could have a look. A bunch of nice, hand-colored etchings I convinced the guy to keep, and made him an offer on this one:

So with these art pickups, are we talking $5 $50 or $500? Nothing that nice ever comes through the thrifts here.

Art pricing is largely arbitrary and generally relies heavily on the notoriety of the artist. A gallery price is usually 2-3 times an auction value, but could also depend on the reputation and location of a gallery--though, as we've seen with Spoo on occasion, there is the chance for a bidding war with an auction.

Say, for example, I had a world renowned gallery in Key West and carried a few pieces by Jack Baron, a notable Key West folk artist. Depending on the size and subject of the piece, I could ask into the thousands for it and easily get it from a tourist who wants a one-of-a-kind memento from his/her trip. However, since I'm only on eBay at the moment, I opted to take the $400 offer on a Jack Baron painting I had up, which went to a Jack Baron collector in Sarasota.

The etchings were probably (didn't catch the artist) in the $50 area on eBay , whereas a local dealer could probably have gotten closer to the $500 if he waited for the right buyer.

Whelp, I was so stoked to find this one, eager both to detourn a bit of the old evil iconography and to give a shout-out to Alex P. Keaton all in one go, but alas...it's already just a ****** mass-market hipster thing. Oh well. Still good for the beach.

A recent mix of true thrift, e-thrift, and deep discount. Deep discount stuff is all well within the 10% rule except maybe the Esemplare pieces. But those and the MP di Massimo Piombo stuff are all mineeeeee.

PRL. Is this the right been had?

Caroll & Co heavy Shetland wool shawl cardigan

CDG Man

This thing is kinda gnarly.. Loro Piana 100% silk swim trunks that look like they might be a sample.

MP di Massimo Piombo by Kiton heavy cotton suits in olive and tan

That 1930's-1940's USN issued peacoat. This thing is pretty ridiculous.

Big shout out to @JFST for trading me this sick Schedoni for Omega leather clipboard, pictured here with its matching mechanical brethren and sister.

A few fun things, I'm disproportionately excited about the D'Avenza/Davide Cenci suit which I WISH FIT ME -- it's a 38 (marked 48) but with too short sleeves. Be glad to trade it off to someone it fits, working buttonholes so I can't alter! Everything available excepting the Woolrich...

Forgive the wrinkles, staple grey D'Avenza Roma/Davide Cenci suit (jacket only shown.) Actual measurements: P2P: 21", waist: 20.5", BoC: 30" (from top of collar), shoulder: 18". Pants are double pleated, 34".
