Also, as someone who grew up in NY and now currently resides in FL; I will take the hot rainy summers in FL over the cold crappy snowy winters in NY any day

Absolutely love the colder weather. New York in the fall is my favorite. I hate the heat! I wanna put the denim and boots back on.

so i ran into a cache of levi's samples. no idea whether lvc or mainline or what. a couple pairs of 501s, a pair of chinos, and a pair of shorts. not really too unusual...

    but i also found these:
the pair on the left is i believe a 517, red tab, big E. the pair on the right is a '646' bellbottom, orange tab, 'r' label

actually, these are true vintage factory seconds... one has a zipper thing and the other has a fabric thing.
levi's would typically take off the back patch and sometimes the tab and outlet these suckers at discount. no mystery there.

but, see those cards in the front pockets? they include instructions:

levi's designers use their archival jeans as references. apparently these bellbottoms were the template for a fade called "sweet pea".

interesting view into a design/manufacturing process...

At least you don't live in Hawaii, where it gets below 65 around two times a year, where theoretically you NEVER need long sleeves, let alone a coat

    Re: Regions of Residency

I like living in the Pacific Northwest. Pretty mild summers... but it does get pretty hot at times, which is nice. The growing season has been crazy good this year... I expect there will be some amazing vintages this year from the wine countries in WA and OR. Winters are usually somewhat short and late here. Lots of rain during Spring / Fall, but a Subaru and Waxed coat take care of that issue.

Great thrifting, and nice clean air... I wouldn't want to live anywhere else. [IMG]

Yeah, living in Hawaii would really suck.

    NOT!!!

It also hardly ever gets above 85 or so. We pray for days of only 85 in the Texas summer. But still, it's Hawaii.

Letric, the PNW is awesome. Would move there in a second.

Living in Hawaii taught me to appreciate rain (since you see a lot of it). I have fond memories of spending Christmas on a beach in Waianae and seeing Santa Claus pose for pictures wearing board shorts.

One stop today only, and it yielded something I've been after all spring/summer; a Panama. More precisely a NWOB Dobbs Pork Pie Panama. Fits a little big 7 5/8 as opposed to my usual 7 3/8, but I'll deal.

All this talk of weather is like every conversation & email I have with my dad. I've lived in Madison WI, Portland OR, Chicago IL, metro Atlanta GA, around FL (Tampa Bay area and briefly Miami area), and it's the same most anywhere - crap weather now or crap weather later. And Tahiti only has one thrift store so...nah.
