    Beat me to it, that's my favorite thread meme.
    I really like this in theory, but not sure it really works in execution. For instance, cutting up a shell shoe probably would make it still hard to identify in person because the easiest way to tell is the way it doesn't crease and the eyelet puckering....might get lost when the shoe is cut up.

    What else would we need to contribute? Madder, shell, gren fina and grossa, hopsack, exotic skins...

    It might be difficult to mail it around but still seems like a useful thing to have. A set of high resolution and well labelled photos could also be helpful.

    I think a lot of the benefit is seeing/handling in person. There are plenty of pictures of shell and madder, but it's different when you touch it. Everyone has an 'aha' moment as soon as you see it in person and know what it is.
