Anyone ever purchase things just to see how well you can repair / clean / restore them?

Copped these Nike Sweet Classic Lows for $5 the other night.

They came out pretty nice. The inner linings never clean up perfectly, but the leather uppers and soles always seem to come back to pure White. [IMG]

    My Method:

    - Spray inside and out with Oxy Clean, let sit for 10-15 mins.
    - Dunk into bucket filled with hot water. Hold under water for 1-2 mins.
    - Rinse with hot water, scrub vigorously with toothbrush. Re-spray with Oxy if needed.
    - Use abbrassive side of sponge and scrub the sole edges and bottom.
    - Use sponge to gently clean leather uppers, and also scrub insoles.
    - Rinse multiple times with hot water.
    - Let drip for a few hours, then stuff with paper towels.
    - Let sit in front of fan, or outdoors in the sun / air to let slowly dry for several hours.
    - Insert shoe trees to keep their shape, and re-lace with new or cleaned laces.

Have been doing this for every pair of sneakers that I thrift, and so far it's worked out great.

    That is an amazing transformation.
    Cash money.

Had a stop before work today. 17 ties, but mostly fodder. This and a nice Ricci were the best of the bunch.

Thought this was a quindici when I spotted it. Turned out to just be an incredibly beautiful Zegna. Likely keeping for myself.

In the field, is $90 a safe number to pay for nwt quindici's? For flip purposes.
