1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

Savile Row (the brand) is desireable? I always thought they were like a J.Crew level brand in the UK: decent stuff at the right price but not mind blowing. I've been passing on the Savile Row things I've found.

    I think it's a joke, no? From what I've seen it's far sub-J-crew.

Alright, in my defense yesterday was a looong day of photography and editing. One of the main reasons I started going to thrift shops was to find cheap props for the photos on my site and for social media. Not sure this is of interest to anyone, but here is an example of the kinds of things I do. Not really a "thrift fit". But everything in the photo except the watch and shirt are thrifted.

    John Varvatos Pants
    Vintage Florsheim Imperial shoes

I can't take a decent photo of this, any tips? it was cheap enough that it couldn't be left, I've stitched the seam rip already. Too small for my abnormally large head, which is a pisstaker. Midnight green velvet D&G paper boy cap? Baller.

For shiny textured fabrics I usually:
    1. Use bright but indirect light to reduce the sheen
    2. Low ISO (100 to 200) to smooth out texture
    3. High F-stop (16 to 20)
    4. Whatever exposure you need, but as slow as possible

Then correct the color in post (I normally find adjusting the temperature does the trick). Hope that helps!

Edit: just to add that the linen jacket and hat in my pic above are both really shiny in direct light. I used a Canon Rebel T3i with an 18-55 lens. ISO 200, F/16 and 1/20 shutter speed. Then in post I reduced the brightness by 15%, brought the saturation down to 85% and upped the temperature to 6800.

Be warned, there are limitations on eBay. http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/military-items.html#additional

    Not-Allowed:
The following types of body armor:
    • Level IV body armor or Small Arms Protective Insert (SAPI) plates
    • SAPI plates that don't clearly state their respective level (I, II, or III)
    • Military-issued body armor or body armor stamped with "US," including Outer Tactical Vests (OTV) or SAPI plates
    • Interceptor Body Armor (IBA), including items manufactured by Point Blank (PBI), Second Chance (SCI), and Armor Holding

I am not sure that it is considered IBA if no plates or "codpiece", just recommend you do a little research before listing it.

the vintage 'lo has been steadily flowing this week. hoping it continues into today/the weekend. ppu under $7 despite having to pay $20 for the gamo bit loafers

this was my start of the week. nothing crazy in terms of resale value but have been looking for a swag bag for a couple weeks to transport packages from car to post office. wanted it to be a true thrift and finally got one

Unless this has inserts in it it's really not worth buying. The metal plates are the only thing worth wearing these days, soft body armor just doesn't stop most attackers (knives included) but this looks like its just the shell that holds the inserts, a dime a dozen at any gun show. Best advice would be to take to to your local gun store and get $20 for it.

Could one of you tell me what the deal with this is:
    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/262914250191

I'm used to seeing (and passing straight on by) the Green Lauren labels, but what is this suit? A fake, a different range???

Thanks. Seems a crazy idea using the same script as Purple Label, like they're trying to confuse things.

Wow good catch, I didn't even notice that. Quite odd considering it's not Su Misura.
