1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

Right on 10% (had a coupon), so I guess these count as an e-thrift

Don't feel like pics, but 18 super nice solid wood wide-shoulder hangers from a defunct tailoring house in the Bay Area for $6 total. :D

Some stuff from the past couple of days. The talk here has prompted me to look and see things I wouldn't have otherwise thought about, much less purchased. Like denim, I used to wear dad jeans.

Braces (I don't wear suspenders but for a buck a piece, experiment! Trafalgar X4, 1 Polo RL, and 1 no name China leather

My second pair of selvedge/raw type of thing. The Salvation Army store these came from has no fitting rooms. But for 9 bucks I took a chance and they fit.

These didn't fit. I don't really flip, but Frye boots for 7 bucks...

Since I don't really flip, but at times come across things that are a no brainer ( I have a decent pile of stuff that doesn't fit but bought because....)

I passed on these but thought they were cool enough to post as being found.

My Polo knowledge is limited. Down filled, reversible.

Check the tag inside, Nudie usually gives a fairly good description of them. I'd assume they're raw. Look pretty slim so maybe Thin Finn's?

Self edges have a distinct look.

'Dark organic" (1.5% elastic) is on one of the tags. Yeah, my knowledge is slooowly growing. I do, kind of, get that selvedge doesn't equal raw / unsanforized and selvedge doesn't necessarily equal a level of quality. and yes, I'm just tossing out terms here...

Appreciate the info and I'm not intending to ask here for a full lesson in denim. (though many of you have given up huge dissertations! )

I haven't been out for nearly a week, and I was going to walk into town and go mad but it's sodding raining cats & dogs...

I hope it clears by the afternoon, Saturdays are the restock days...

Knowledge is the most important part of thrifting. Learn as much as you can.

@tmethecat Also for educational purposes, Polo Jeans Co. and Polo Ralph Lauren are two distinctly different things, especially on the secondhand market. Also, every time I see your avatar, I think of David Lee Roth.

Also also, I like those polka dot trafalgar braces you picked up. Very cool.

Thanks! I'm _starting_ to get the different RL stages. I took Polo Jeans Co. with the Ralph Lauren (or RL) to be (at least slightly and sometimes) a different level than Polo Jeans Co. without the RL. Kind of like it seems like Chaps used to be good before RL dropped them. I have one sweater, a Polo Jeans Co. with the Ralph Lauren wording, and the quality is nice. Of course, they were decent at some point and then got dropped so the stamp/tag alone is basically meaningless.

David Lee Roth... I thought something felt 80'ish about that pic :) (just grabbed the first cat pic that felt good)

Nice hangers are a good thing, I pick them up whenever I can. The best I've found are Chester Barrie. They give them away with suits & jackets and when I last bought a jacket from their outlet I asked if I could have a couple more hangers - they must have given me 20 or more!

    All hail "The Thrift". [IMG]

When my wife and i flew to California for our honeymoon 3 years ago, member @barrelntrigger gave me his Giants cap from college days, which i still wear often. and while there, I Thrifted 2 Giants jerseys.
-Now in the present, when i am on the search for a Starter Jacket? all the way over here in Japan???
what's in my local Thrift, at half price? - a Starter Giants Jacket to match items acquired on my Honeymoon.
of all the random things that could pop up? This? [IMG]

while i was taking pics of stuff to describe what i want to wear in the next epic fit pic, "Return to 1996,via 2016. 20 years of swag" to a friend who is a photographer.

= Jedi level "at one with the Thrift".

some folks attract items of resale value. but me? I attract the items i want.

so glad i could share a personal grail find. makes for a big smile. [IMG]
