There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

Can the sneakerheads weigh in? I know nothing about sport shoes so I usually ignore them, however these Nikes caught my eye, and when I saw "Made in USA" on the tag, they seemed unique enough to pick up. Do I have anything good/interesting here?

I hope that's just someone trolling the GW auction site and driving the actual bidder nuts.

    And a Marinella tie.

And I was too embarrassed to admit I'd never heard of it.

But I looked it up PDQ and it went to the top of my true thrift grail list. Took me about a year.

I also promptly began trolling ebay and SF for Marinella and now have a nice little petting zoo of my own.

So thanks, E. Just one of the many lights you've brought into my life.

Do NOT get all the Polo nonsense. Most of what people go nuts over us F-U-G-L-Y. Couldn't care less about a skeet. Just couldn't.

    --

    True story:
Hit my local with 15 minutes to close knowing I had $0 in my wallet, had left my checkbook at home and they only took cash or check. Saw the Drakes "Made in England tageroo on the back of a PS tie and knew I'd be making the CVS cashback sprint for like the millionth time in my life. You'd think at my age I'd be too old or at least wise enough to avoid this.

    But you'd be wrong.

This was all later in the day, after I hauled the 2 younger girls (youngest of whom doesn't walk or talk) to the largest (and easily most crowded) bi-annual community tag sale in the area, and was informed on the way in that the fire marshal has forbidden strollers. Did this prevent me from getting 100% cashmere overcoat and about a dozen ties? Nope.

Older of the two girls talked her way into a Disney Princess bike too.
Me: Don't we have that already?
    Her: No
    Me: Are you sure
    Her: Definitely not
    --
(Later) Me: Look, it's exactly like this bike right here.
Her: No. This one has yellow.

My mistake was believing I didn't need to cross examine my own children.

I just like hearing about people in this thread coming up on stuff that is good $$$, whatever form it may come in. I agree that a lot of the stuff if fugmo...except for the bear. That little guy is just so darn cute and charming, you can't not love him.

And moral of your story: children cannot be trusted. (But sounds like she did get you on a technicality with the yellow argument. She'll make a great laywer someday.)

Found my 2nd Zegna leather reversible belt now.

This time though the belt buckle is scratched up. Is there any way to polish/hide the scratches?

The belt leather itself is in great condition though. If I can't restore the buckle somehow I may use the belt with the other buckle as the first belt has a little wear near the most-used hole. When your fingers touch the leather of a Zegna belt within the mass of belt straps on the rack, you know you found something good.

They will go with the black Zegna jeans I found a couple weeks ago.

    :fistbump:

I was still pretty green at that point too. I remember picking it up and saying to you, "isn't this one of those brands that the SF dudes go crazy for?" Hahaha, I've still got that one in the stable.

Those can be removed very easily with a seam ripper. :nodding:

Looks like old Cortez's. Could be wrong, what's the date on the tag?

Could be worth something if old.

Kicking off the week with some early monday thrifting. Not pictured a Corneliani sportcoat, bought at 10:00 am and sold at 2:00 pm to a customer who originally came over to pick up something else.

I recently purchased at a resale shop this gorgeous, glen plaid Luciano Barbera sportcoat for well under $100. I've posted three photos; I hope they appear properly. The condition is excellent; the coat looks and feels to me brand new. The fabric has a wonderful, soft feel. From limited research it seems this coat, truly brand new, would be listed at over $1,500; does anyone have a handle on the full retail price of a Luciano Barbera if this type? As the photo shows, the overall material is 100% wool, the lining is 100% viscose, and the trim is labeled 5% leather (top label, as shown, and the openings for the inner pockets are leather). Can anyone discern the jacket's approximates year of manufacture from the labels? Please comment? Was this or was this not a fabulous find?
