I never find hardly any of the good YSL. I have found a few Rive Gauche pieces, but nothing spectacular. Plus, I would not know a Tom Ford piece from a Hide the Salami piece.
I sold a vintage made in British Hong Kong YSL leather blazer a few days ago (dismal performance <$25).

If it's older possibly. Brioni used to contract for a lot more brands then they do presently, just saw a Sulka blazer that was made by Brioni. Now it's pretty much just stores they do work for but before they used to do work for other Labels. I know older Lanvin used to contract, and still does, I believe Caruso currently or Lardini maybe, but I have an older Lanvin coat that was made by Canali. Pics?

Hedi ironically started the Rive Gauche line on and the pieces that were also labeled just Saint Laurent, this however was pre Tom Ford, so there's a market for those. If it's suiting, look for the older Zegna tags, the paper ones that look nothing like the current ones, on Gucci or YSL Rive Gauche pieces. Those are your Tom Fords. If it has the Rive Gauche and the newer Zegna tag then its Pilati and if it's new and says Saint Laurent Paris then buy it immediately.

BTW Jompso, do you know what the highest fabric rating number/letter is for Zegna made items?
    All the trofeo 600 i've got is a 4, & i have some older 15milmil15 that is a 'P'.

Dude, what size? I can't really tell from here. If it's a large, I'm a homie who likes sewing:

A tie i re-slip stitched like an hermes with a double loop.

The smallest wool measurement they make for their suiting is 14 micron which is super rare and really expensive. And yes that is a Pilati piece.

Edit: And no I don't know what exactly they categorize this fabric as being on the manufacturer tags

I think the point is that the valuable YSL stuff is few and far between, and you will know it when you see it. for most people, if you just ignore all YSL you will probably not be making a huge error.

I just received my box of 4 Kiton ties that I purchased recently from Barney's Warehouse. I am sorry to say that only 1 of them is somewhat acceptable. Two have horrible runs on the front and one has what appears to be ink on the front. For what it is worth, their "no refunds or exchanges" policy is waived if the items are damaged. The very friendly CSR I spoke with immediately sent me a pre-paid FedEx return label. Also, their shipping speed in phenomenal, but their packaging sux. They just wad the ties up in some brown paper and put them in a too-large box surrounded by more brown paper. The ties are horribly creased. I will salvage the one but everything else is going back. It just goes to show that a deal is only a deal if the product is worth the effort.

I have had similar results with other discount shopping sites... Yoox sent me a suit that was a 40S instead of a 40R (sold as a 40R).

The only site that seems to do well in this regard is Sierra Trading Post. I've never received a defective item from them.

I can honestly say that everything that I have received via mail from any TJX company has been well packaged and in pristine condition.

I can attest to getting damaged / soiled items from BW as well. Last time it happened they refused a refund and gave me store credit instead. Haven't bought anything from them since. Didn't use the store credit - gave it away. Sucks because the first couple of times I bought from them, the stuff was pristine.

I know I got the point of it, I just saw people stating 2 and there is a 3rd to look out for as well. Just a heads up to not pass over it just because it doesn't say Rive Gauche of SLP. There was a designer between those two who put out great pieces and are also very worthy of copping. You don't see them everyday, you may never, but the same goes for shit like Kiton, you may find 5 suits in a row, you may never thrift a piece in your life, was merely saying what's good.
