1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

Anybody interested in a beat-to-hell Russian brown shell cordovan razor strop? Would make very durable watch straps.

This is an example of a mend I've taught myself to do. It looks puckered because I pulled the yarns too tight. It's on the back of the elbow, though, so not very noticeable. :p I had two different tapestry needles with two different colored wool yarns, alternating between them to replace the broken stitches (about 6 stitches total). Can't do this without mega strong reading glasses.

Had a good run today. Everything is available except for the rice cooker ( already claimed by a friend) and the John Lee Hooker LPs.

Never pass up a good rice cooker. Tiger and Zojirushi are some of the best.

    Some modest finds today.

eThrift Briggs & Riley garment bag. Desperately needed for me, and paid "true thrift" price due to local pickup.

    (Fake) Hermes Jacquard Tie

Canali Suit. Unfortunately some shininess from pressing, but fits me perfectly. I bought it to replace my Brooks Brothers 346 beater suit.*
    [IMG]

Passport (defunct Saks house brand) suit.

    * flippy talk:
I'm surprised at how well 346 suits do on eBay, to the point where I regret passing on some cheap ones. I should be able to sell my current 346 and easily cover the cost of the Canali.

Kind of thought it might be, thanks for confirming. Returnable, luckily.

    What gives it away?

G shock looks good to me. What's throwing you off?

Absence of Casio on the face made me think twice, but one of mine doesn't say it either. How's the case back look?

The liner and keeper are wrong as well as the content tag.

The liner should almost always be the same color as the ties dominant color. The typeface on the keeper and the layout is wrong as well as other things. Glad it can be returned!

Thanks. I think I will trust my instinct on real vs. fake more in the future.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe these are the only keepers used on Hermes ties.

The one like you bought has that kind of green-ish color on the keeper, which I've also seen fake Zegna and Armani ties with a very similar tag. Most likely all made in the same place.

^ive also seen the middle one in white. I believe those are mainly on the scarf ties.

I'd research that Casio GShock. I believe it looks fake too. What does the back of watch say? The thing that throws me off, is the colour of the 3 "eyes" on the watch. From the pic you posted, they look like different colours, and I would expect them to match the main LCD background colour.
