Funny story. My wife and I are browsing a Saks Off 5th today. The 7 month old got sick of the stroller so I'm carrying her and my wife is pushing around the stroller. She goes to try a bunch of stuff on and takes the stroller and baby stuff with her.

5 minutes in I think 'I should have grabbed a burp rag'. No more than 30 seconds later, my daughter projectile vomits all over the floor. Probably bad karma but I looked around and bolted to the next department with a quickness. Haha.

the deal with drafting patterns using selvedge is the outseam is obviously ruler straight, so all the taper, shaping etc happens on the inseam. it kind of handcuffs the pattern and non-selvedge denim lets you taper both the inseam and outseam. people are shaped differently, have different aesthetics, so whatever. if it works it works.

lay out a pair of old 501s inside out and you'll see, only the uppermost 6" or so jog in towards the waistband, and that's all the shape you get. the rub is that the yoke in the back, the waistband, and the pockets all draw in when you soak or wash and that's a bunch of additional shaping through the hips which is kind of essential to the 501 fit. of course that doesn't happen with sanforized denim. or if you don't ever wash. but it's a really important aspect of stf denim that goes sort of under the radar around here. but most folks seem to favor sanforized. to each their own.

imo it's funny how this denimz stuff really has people tipping their hands lately.

They are available. They're marked as 32 but I haven't measured yet. Let me know if you're interested.

Is this LL Bean Signature? It's not the current label, but it's too new to be vintage mainline.

Dayyum that Coochi is sick Nat. Cool provenance too.

In other news, those Gustins I found are stone mint and these
    https://www.weargustin.com/store/1468

    Retail $179??? Rich for Gustin.

They fit perfect as is unwashed. If I keep, Any chance I can wash without shrinking?

Regarding selvedge, I've seen lots of shitty selvedge. Recently, i saw a pair made by global citizen or something like that. Yer, no Bueno. The selvedge you want are the ones that are made by reputable makers. In the end, it's all about the fit, not skinny, not baggy, but fit just right like a fine tailored suit. Being selvage is a plus because you won't have to worry about the out seam fraying. You can have a pair of washed out jeans but as long as they fit you right, it's not a pair of dad jeans. Selvedge denim is not a trend. It's a classic revival that will remain classic. I'll wear grail selvedge to the day i die.

The description you linked says sanforized, so shrinkage should be very minimal after washing (typ less than 3% so you might notice a *little* loss of inseam).

Eu 54 but fits like a US 42. Sleeves are just a tad long for me (I'm a 34 sleeve so he's a 36, I'm guessing...) but otherwise everything is spot on.
